So, it's been a while since I've posted here -I'm much more active on twitter () - apologies.

This is from a collaboration earlier this year with some amazing people from The Australian Antarctic Program . We explored and visualised data on cetaceans (dolphins, porpoises, and whales) incidents in Australia.

I absolutely loved doing this project! It was great to explore some really important data and think about ways to visually communicate it back to those collecting and using the data.

It's crazy to see how large the mass stranding event in Tassie last year was, when compared to all other events in the year previous!

💡 How to: Edit your plots in PowerPoint.

Plotting in programs like Matlab and R can only take your figures so far. To add those final touches and make your figures pop, it's helpful to do final edits in a graphics program.

Unfortunately, not everyone has access to Adobe Illustrator or the such. But most people can access PowerPoint.

The key is knowing the right export file format (.svg) and how to convert the plot once it is in PowerPoint so you can edit it.

Hope this guide is helpful!

Fun little graphic that I made for a client showing the range of systems that their proposed research will take place in.

This is part of a 5 page information booklet that I put together to help them pitch their exciting research ideas!

More snippets to come :)

Let’s talk science with everyone.

Welcome to Knowlegible Designs! I am incredibly excited to share our first post, which really gets at the heart of who we are and why I started this graphic design business.

Science is wonderful. It enriches our lives daily and unveils things about the world beyond our imagination. Yet so many important ideas are lost in translation (or not even put out there to begin with). An estimated 95% of people in America cannot understand scientific papers (Sharon & Baram-Tsabari, 2014), and those who can are increasingly pressed for time.

More than ever, we need to break down the communication barriers surrounding science. We need to help important ideas shine and inspire. The visual language is the most effective and efficient form of science communication. It transcends the boundaries of the ivory tower.

My vision with Knowlegible Designs is to create a world where science is easily understood, and important ideas are not lost. Get in touch through the link in the bio, and let’s talk about visualising your knowledge and ideas 🤓
