Asking every customer for a Google review in the same week can stop reviews coming in at all. Google has started emailing some owners to say it "detected a spike in spam reviews" on their Business Profile. It removes the reviews it flags, then temporarily pauses new ratings, reviews and other contributions, usually for a few days. The system reacts to the speed of the spike. A Sunshine Coast business that opens a new location or sends one big review request to its whole customer list can look, to Google, a lot like a spam attack. Spreading review requests over weeks keeps the pattern looking like real customers.
