Here’s how I graded this shot of in

1. Add a curves layer and drag from the middle to the bottom right, and then slide the top point over just a little. Don’t over do this.

2. Add a Hue/Saturation layer and nudge the saturation up a little.

3. To blend the highlights with the background, add a solid colour fill the same colour as the background.

4. In your blending options, in the ‘Underlying layer’, hold ALT/Opt on the left arrow and split it all the way across.

5. On this colour fill layer hit the mask and press CMD+I to invert it.

6. Use a soft brush at around 30% opacity to paint away any white highlights.

Lovely to see so many logo designers showing up and sharing their work.

I’ve been using an action to fix this problem for years.

Up until now if you wanted to centre vertically AND horizontally to your artboard it was always two clicks!

Upgrade your Beta app of illustrator today and we now have a button that does it for us!

How to make responsive buttons in Illustrator…

1. Select your text and go to Window - Appearance
2. Add a new fill in your text colour

(Bonus tip, press the FX button and go to Path - Outline object. This centres your text in the button later.)

3. Duplicate this fill underneath and make this your button colour

4. With your second fill selected, press the FX button and go to Convert to Shape - Rounded Rectangle

5. Adjust your width, height and corner radius

Now your button will match your text length!

Enclosed mode in Illustrator. What is it? How does it work?

When you want to grab a group of objects with your marquee (dragging and selecting with the selection tool [V]), it’ll select everything that’s in enclosed within the marquee…

…UNLESS you press [E] on your keyboard before deselecting.

Watch for the little bracket symbol next to your cursor 👉 ⟦ ⟧

Now only the objects that are ‘enclosed’ within your marquee will be selected. HUZZAH!
