According to our latest Insights Exchange U.S. Consumer Trends Report,
40% of 18 to 29-year-olds in the US feel lonely regularly, roughly four times the rate of older generations.

Younger Americans may be the most digitally connected demographic in history,
but they are experiencing a profound epidemic of disconnection.

For ANZ brands launching or scaling in the US, this shifts the whole playbook.

🤝 Be human-first.
Build community, not just a customer base.

Are you an ANZ brand planning to luanch in the U.S.?

America has never been more divided. And never more united.

Our third annual U.S. Consumer Trends Report has just been released, revealing eight key trends from a survey of 1,053 Americans.

64% of Republicans are optimistic about the country's future. Just 36% of Democrats.

But cost of living tops the national concern list for the third year running - and financial pressure doesn't split by party at all.

If your brand is speaking to one and ignoring the other, you're only talking to half the room.

Our latest 2026 Consumer Trends Report reveals a brutal reality:
45% of Australian workers are now willing to give up their free time
and quality of life just to make ends meet.
They are stressed, exhausted, and locked down on discretionary spending.
If your business is still trying to market or recruit using an outdated playbook,
you are screaming into a void. This data means your consumer messaging needs to pivot sharply
from "aspiration" to "undeniable value," and your talent strategy needs to address raw financial pressure,
not just lifestyle perks.
When consumers are trading their precious time just for survival,
how is your brand changing its value proposition to match?
What are your thoughts?

Over the next two weeks, we will be sharing some of the highlights from our 2026 consumer Trends Report, and some of the key issues facing Australians.

First up, the cost of living continues to dominate the national mood. 40% name it their single greatest worry, more than three times the next concern, housing (12%). 67% rank it among their top three.

Nearly half (47%) find it at least somewhat difficult to meet their monthly bills. One in four (25%) carry debt with no savings to fall back on.

And the strain isn't shared evenly. 40% say their ability to meet household expenses has worsened over the past year, rising to 45% among women.

We're calling 2026 the year of cautious realism. Australians aren't waiting for the pressure to lift; they're learning to live with it.

Share with us what is hitting your household hardest this year?

Yesterday we launched the Insights Exchange Australian Consumer Trends Report 2026, and we did it the way we like to do most things: in a room with good coffee, a small group, and a genuine conversation.

Insights leaders, marketers, partners, and founders joined us for an intimate breakfast briefing in Sydney CBD in partnership with Pureprofile (and at their beautiful office space!)

Five years in, this research matters more to us than ever. Not because of the numbers, but because of what sits behind them. Real Australians, telling us how they're living, feeling and what they're worried about.

The report will officially be available next week - so register for your copy today (see comments).

Thank you to everyone who joined us this morning. The conversation in the room was exactly what this kind of research is for.

In a recent interview, Insights Exchange founder Nichola Quail highlighted one of the biggest risks in research right now: AI-generated responses and synthetic data infiltrating studies that businesses are using to make major strategic decisions.

Knowing where your data comes from, and that it reflects real human perspectives, has never mattered more.

At Insights Exchange, data quality isn't a nice-to-have. It's the foundation everything is built on.

If you are looking at any research projects in the near future, talk to our team about the measures we have in place to ensure your data is clean, reliable, and truly human.

For the past three years, Insights Exchange has partnered with Serko on a research program that has genuinely shaped product strategy and market direction.

The brief was to understand how AI is reshaping corporate travel in the US, and what Serko needed to do about it. The work spanned multiple phases and audiences - US business travellers, then corporate travel managers. The headline insight was that the constraint wasn't technology... it was capability and organisational confidence.

That finding directly informed Serko's US go-to-market strategy - shifting from product-led to education-led, including the launch of their "AI for Travel Managers" program (500+ professionals trained to date).

It also underpinned the development and positioning of what's now live - Serko.ai - an autonomous, multi-agent travel platform built from the ground up.

If you are a frequent US business traveller and keen to be involved - here is the link to the closed beta waitlist: https://serko.ai

Congratulations Serko and we're excited to see what's to come!
