A few magazine layout concepts for an article ‘Restless Typographer’ on Jurriaan Schrofer 📖
Jurriaan Schrofer was a Dutch Typographer well known for his inventive and playful typographic talent. He was always one of the leading Dutch designers of his time (1925- 1990) but it was not until 2013 (23yrs after his death) that Schrofers genius became known on a global scale. His love for typography was evident in his work, you can see the hours of experimentation, always chasing something new and something better. During his life he was most successful in the 1970’s but never became famous due to being overshadowed by better known typographic talent of that time. He was heavily influenced by the design philosophy of both Bauhaus and De Nieuwe Stijl. He experimented with geometric, minimalistic and matrix looking typeface designs. It seems as though the reason Schrofer has not been truly recognised until now is that his designs were well ahead of his time.
