A first look at Our River: From Nawi to Now ๐ŸŽฌ

These beautiful frames are taken from our new documentary exploring the Nepeanโ€“Hawkesbury River. Over the past year, our crew has travelled along the river, capturing its landscapes and speaking with the people who know it, work on it, care for it and call it home.

Programs like โ€˜Stories From Hereโ€™ create opportunities for local people to develop new skills, build confidence and tell stories that reflect the people and places of Western Sydney.

Over the last 12 weeks, five Penrith locals were mentored by filmmakers Ryan Cauchi Tim Grubisic Roscoe Pagey Train and Misty McPhail who guided them through every stage of documentary production from developing an idea and conducting interviews to filming and editing their finished films.

Last weekend we celebrated with a wonderful afternoon of storytelling, celebration and community. Watching each filmmaker introduce their work before seeing it on the big screen for the first time was a proud moment for everyone involved.

Congratulations to all five filmmakers - weโ€™re so proud of what youโ€™ve created.

Last Saturday, we celebrated something pretty special. After months of learning, planning, filming and editing, five local filmmakers premiered their very first short documentaries at our โ€˜Stories From Hereโ€™ showcase in Cranebrook.

Our team rolled out the red carpet, filled the popcorn cups and welcomed family, friends and supporters to celebrate the incredible achievements of this talented group of storytellers.

A heartfelt thank you to Penrith City Council for supporting this program through the Magnetic Places initiative, and congratulations to all five filmmakers - weโ€™re so proud of what youโ€™ve created.

A few weeks ago, our team swapped cameras for golf clubs to take part in a charity golf day at Leonay Golf Club โ›ณ It was a great chance to spend time together outside of work, support an important cause, and help raise funds for Penrith Cancer Wellness Support.

Of course, we couldnโ€™t resist bringing a camera along to capture some of the fun. Thanks to everyone who organised such a great day - weโ€™re already looking forward to the next one!
