Learning to edit a film is a big challenge! It takes courage to learn new skills, problem-solve through technical hurdles and keep going when things get difficult. Our Stories From Here workshop participants took it all in stride and we couldn’t be prouder.

We’re looking forward to sharing their stories with the community next month right here in Penrith 🎬 Join us for the Saturday 18 July showcase!

Our Festival AD Roscoe Pagey Train recently sat down with ArtsHub to talk about Made in the West Film Festival and what continues to drive us after all these years.

For 15 years, Ross has helped shape Made in the West into more than just a film festival, building a community where local filmmakers can connect, experiment, share work and see themselves represented on screen. We’re proud to see his passion and commitment recognised in conversations like this ❤️

Check out the interview below and hear Ross reflect on filmmaking, community, and why the community of filmmakers we’ve built in Western Sydney matters so much.

'Don't have a famine mentality,' says Ross Page. 'If we support each other, we can turn this industry into something formidable.'

That’s a wrap on our Stories From Here workshop series 🎬 Over the past two months, five Penrith locals joined us to learn about documentary filmmaking, supported by and guided by local filmmakers and Ross Page 😎
From developing ideas and filming interviews through to editing and final delivery, participants have worked incredibly hard to bring their stories to life. For some, this was their first ever film!
We’re so proud of what they’ve created and can’t wait to showcase their finished films later this month🍿🍿

We’ve been looking back on photos showcasing some of the incredible projects developed during a new Games Development workshop series led by ACE Parramatta 🎮

Across three weekends, participants explored interactive storytelling using Ink, Twine and Bitsy, guided by the team from Serenade Games. The result was 20 original games created by emerging creatives from across Western Sydney, and the final showcase at ACE allowed participants to present their work to a live audience 🙌

Led by Arts and Cultural Exchange - ACE, supported by Screen NSW and Powerhouse Museum , delivered alongside Serenade Games and coordinated by our team at , we were stoked to be part of this collaboration helping create new pathways for emerging creatives to experiment with games as a storytelling medium.

Congratulations to all the talented writers who took part in the program, and thanks to everyone who came along to played the games!

Back in March, we teamed up with and for a three-week Games Development workshop series exploring interactive storytelling 🎮

Participants learned how to create interactive narratives using Ink, Twine and Bitsy, developing more than 20 original games across the program with support from experienced game writers and facilitators.

We wrapped the series with a public showcase at ACE — here’s what it looked like on the day!

Last week the team from Made in the West Creative hit the greens for the inaugural 'Drive for Wellness' Charity Golf Day hosted by Penrith Cancer Wellness Support ⛳

We were proud to sponsor a hole, enjoy a nice day out at Leonay Golf Club with some of our crew, and help support an organisation doing incredibly important work for people living with cancer and their families.

Our team also jumped into the live auction, helping to boost the fundraising total and adding a fair bit of excitement to our lunch 😁 We’re looking forward to getting on the radio with the crew from My88fm soon.

In total, the day raised nearly $18,500 for cancer wellness support services in our community.

Like many people, our lives have been touched by cancer. We’ve lost loved ones, and we also celebrate the fighters, survivors, and people continuing to live with cancer every day. We were grateful to be part of something that gives back in such a meaningful way 💝
