On the weekend, posted an article that highlighted a change in influencer partnerships within the healthcare and wellness space and WOW has been met with some very heavy weighted opinions.

In short, the TGA has put restrictions in place when it comes to influencers spruiking these products. They can no longer receive payment and 'endorse' these products unless they meet the very strict code of conduct and advertising practice.

If you're a small business impacted by these measures or a SMM/agency, I'd love to hear your thoughts?

When you're running a small business, it's easy to get caught up in the ex*****on of things. Like your social media.

You set up your pages, start posting whatever content comes to mind and hope for the best 😬

📣PSA - This ain't gonna work. Not only will you be wasting time and energy but you will burn out in the process!

Having a strategy will not only keep you accountable, but it gives you direction and very clear cut goals. It allows you to identify the right audience and brand voice, which will give you better engagement and overall ROI - whether that investment is time or money.

It will help you create relevant content that aligns with your brand and gives you an opportunity to effectively build your brand.

A strategy is an ongoing evolving framework so if you are yet to implement one, don't think it's too late. Pick up from where you are now and put one in place. Continue to refer to it and make adjustments as you grow.

If you're setting up your business or trying to find you're groove when it comes to marketing your business, here are a few key tips that might help you.......

⭐Establish your brand identity and USP.
This is key. What makes you you and what makes you stand out from the crowd. Identify it and then own it!

⭐If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.
When you have a plan, you have a very clear directive. Something to work towards and achieve. It keeps you motivated and accountable and takes the stress out of the ex*****on so you're not scrambling for last-minute ideas or content creation.
As well as planning, it's also a great idea to actually schedule your content. This will give you some time back each day whilst, keeping you consistent.

⭐Engage with your audience.
It's called social media for a reason.... so go on.... be social! Talk to your followers and make them feel heard. People are far more likely to buy from brands they have a relationship with.

⭐Keep track of KPIs.
Set your goals and track your progress through your analytics. Not obsessively, just a healthy amount that allows you to monitor your activities and see what's working and what's not. This will, in turn, help you adjust your strategy.

This 🙌🏼

When it comes to building your community, it's not all about the number of followers you have.

Sure, 10K followers are great, but if 9 thousand of them are not buying from you, they are not your people.

YOU know your product or service has a purpose so share that with your followers.

YOU know your product or service has a purpose, so share that with your followers. Solve their pain points with that purpose.

You want to provide content and build relationships that create a community full of passion and loyalty. And from there, you can grow your business revenue.

Which is the ultimate goal right?

The key to any good sustainable relationship is communication, loyalty and trust.

These same principles apply when it comes to your business and your customers. And here's how you can apply them:

⭐Communication: Keep it open, consistent and on-brand. Make it personal. Ensure your strategy has the right CRM tools in place to help embrace, nurture and grow over time.

⭐Loyalty: Reward your customers for their commitment to you by providing added value.

⭐Trust: Be authentically you. Share your values, have outstanding customer service and build a connection that sets you apart from your competitors. No one will buy from someone they don't trust.

From your social media through to your website, email and offline channels, by putting these principles in place and focusing on your relationship marketing strategy, you will build deeper more meaningful connections with your customers to ensure long term satisfaction and retention.

Firstly, to all the naysayers, Email Marketing is not dead.

In fact, it is one of the highest converting marketing channels with an equally high ROI. It should be one of the top 3 channels you focus on.

If you're just starting out or are looking for new ideas to grow your email list, here's a few things you can consider.....

👉🏽 Run a prize promotion / giveaway: Pretty straight forward, to enter they need to submit their name and email.

👉🏽 Unlock a discount: Use a pop up on your website asking Customers to enter their email address to receive 10% off their order.

👉🏽Incentivise: Similar to the above you could offer free shipping instead or if your a service based business a free 15min consult call

👉🏽FREE downloadable content: Run ads to promote a product or service that can be downloaded as a whitepaper or e-book. To receive the download, they provide their email address.

👉🏽Add an exit page pop up on your website, giving one last chance to receive a special offer

👉🏽Event invitation: Create an event (can be physical or virtual) and ensure registrations include an email address requirement.

👉🏽Survey participation: Run a survey with an incentive to complete it (and provide email details)

Whilst these ideas are a great starting point, it's more important that you have the right funnel in place and continue to nurture your list.

When you run a small business and you are a jack of all trades, social media can become very overwhelming. But here are a few key things to consider and changes you can make that will get you out of the daily grind and into a position for better growth.....

✅ Each platform serves a different purpose and engages with different audiences. You can certainly post ABOUT the same thing but ensure the format is best suited for that platform.

❌ Don't go posting the exact same piece of content across all of them. It's not a one size fits all.

✅ Be Social. It's called SOCIAL media for a reason.

❌ Post and ghost. Your audience want to engage with you, so make sure you show up.

✅Not only will planning help you be more strategic, but it will also eliminate the stress and pressure of coming up with last-minute ideas.

❌ Random, unprepared posting will only get you so far. So whether it's 1 week or 1 month, start planning today!

✅Sure, you're main priority is to sell your product or service but your audience wants more than that. Give them added value and a reason to follow you. This will then give them a reason to purchase from or book with you over your competitor.

❌ Remember social media is not your primary sales channel. It is there to support your other marketing efforts and build a community.

✅Focus on how you can solve your audience pain points.

❌ Make it all about you.
