The impending evolution from Mobile-first to mobile-only indexing is coming according to Google’s latest announcement.

Google has been using mobile-only indexing on new sites for over a year now, however this week has announced it will roll-out across all indexed sites from March 2021. They’re also taking it a step further, and will not only start indexing mobile versions of a brand's web pages, but they will also delete pages from the index which are only accessible via desktop.

Website owners and search specialists have the next 5 months to ensure that the mobile version of their site accurately represents the content that they want to have ranked in Google, and does so in line with Google’s PageSpeed recommendation to maximise ranking opportunity.
