LUDOVIC.

Recently we screened the film to a full house of cast, crew, families and friends, the people who made it possible and watched it together on the big screen for the first time. Walking out of that room, the same thing kept coming back: this only exists because of the people in it.
A film like this gets made on goodwill, craft, and a shared belief that the story is worth the work. Every prop placed. Every frame composed. Every line carried. Every call sheet honoured. The screening was a chance to see what all of it added up to.
To everyone who was in the room, and to everyone who couldn't be, thank you. The film is yours as much as ours.
Now into festivals.

For 6 years I throughly enjoyed my part time role as Creative Industries Business Advisor for NSW Government and their Business Connect program. It was a great service where I got paid by the government and my advisory was free to the freelance filmmakers I advised.

Many of you reading this would have benefitted.

Last September the program was pulled but it is being brought back.

The NSW Government has announced that it will provide a new advisory service for small businesses to replace what was Business Connect!

For those of you who used the previous program you'll know just how vital it was for thousands of creatives and creative small businesses, and this next phase of consultation is incredibly important.

To design the new program, Service NSW is conducting a comprehensive review based on the needs and priorities of the people who used it, and will again. The review will be presented to the NSW Government in May 2026.

Here's the really important bit...

You can tell the review what you need in the new service, and it's an opportunity to tell them that the creative industries, and creatives, need specialist support - and more of it.

We recommend letting them know that there should be a dedicated Creative Industries specialist service, one that understands and caters to the unique challenges of being a professional creative or running a creative business.

The survey closes on April 19. You can make a submission or complete the survey via the link below, and we encourage everyone who can to have their say!

NEXT WEEK!

Last year Jess Milne and I celebrated ten years of TEN ALPHAS allowing us to travel all over Australia meeting inspiring and interesting people in weird and wonderful places, and be allowed to tell their story .

How Did We Get Here? is a look behind the scenes of what it truly means to be in creative business for a decade or more, featuring a roundtable conversation with three other orgs and industry leaders that have successfully navigated a decade of operation.

I'm joining three other creative industries leaders who have successfully navigated a decade of operation for a webinar next week, where we'll share invaluable insights from our organisations' experiences.

The roundtable also includes Kate Baggerson (Everybody Now), Andy Turner (MTNS Made), and Monica Davidson (Creative Plus Business), for a behind the scenes look at what's worked, what hasn't, and what advice they would give to others.

This isn’t a highlight reel; it’s an honest look at the mechanics of longevity in our chaotic creative industry.

It's happening on Wednesday, 15 April, at 6pm AEST. Register for FREE at www.crowdcast.io/c/adecadeinbusiness or visit www.creativeplusbusiness.com

Recently Faye screened to an audience of over 1000 with amazing feedback!

Sharing a selection of frames from the film, a project shaped by the South Coast hinterland, where we leaned into softness, texture and natural light to build the world.

It takes a village, and this one was built by an incredibly generous and talented team.

We’re incredibly proud of LudoVic.

Today at at Church St Studios we locked ourselves into the final sound mix, shaping the last emotional beats with the brilliant John Hresc. Watching the film come alive through sound has been something special.

More soon.

Clear communication matters, especially when the subject is complex or sensitive.

We recently partnered with QBE to create a series of explainer videos designed to help customers better understand the complaints process. The goal was simple: make important information accessible, transparent and human, without losing clarity or trust.

Projects like this sit at the intersection of strategy and storytelling, taking detailed business processes and shaping them into something people can genuinely follow and feel supported by.
