I find that when I feel alone. It usually is accompanied by a sense that I don’t belong anywhere. That who I am is in essence somehow not quite right or unacceptable.

And he’s usually a reflection of how I am not accepting some part of myself

Because when I know where I belong and that who I am is absolutely more than acceptable being alone as a pleasure and indulgence a treat.

This is why finding spaces and places where we feel we can be ourselves so very important

I hope you find yourself in spaces and places like that all the time.

Last night I did a lot of wandering in my dreams, looking for a place to rest and feel safe.

This is a sign I recognise that my body is stretched. Seeking rest. Sorting out fears and past hurts.

So rather than override and push through, I slowed down. I connected with trusted friends. I went to the sauna and sat still.

Our bodies need to process grief in slow waves, not in rushing, pushing through or overriding.

I've created a program to help you remember this (because I sincerely believe some part of us already knows).

It is called Clear Ground and doors are open for just a few days. Join us - it is better when we help each other do this together in a culture that tells us to do the opposite.

We farewelled my dear friend Janet Cohen yesterday. my heart goes out to all who know her and have been touched by the way she lived, especially her partner and fellow traveller, Glen.

Janet was an advocate for heart-to-heart connection - protecting nature and conserving wilderness - she was instrumental in building cultural programs on Birrpai Country, working with local elders and community - she also (whilst living with Stage 4 Cancer for.over a decade) campaigned successfully to bring Voluntary Assisted Dying laws in across Australia.

However, to me, she was a loving and generous friend and ally for over 40 years.

What an incredible privilege.

janet made a conversation different. She lived gracefully, mischievously and playfully. She was a prolific artist, and she touched many lives.

Fly free darling woman. You’ll not be forgotten. I’m so grateful to have known you and to carry forward all that you taught me.

Thank you JC.

To support Janet’s legacy, you can donate to the Maisy and Janet Cohen Fund and the Tasmanian Nature Conserrvancy.

A note on the audio / this is me singing a song taught to me many years ago by an apprenticed medicine woman in Native American Traditions. I’Ve since discovered that versions of this song are known throughout In Tact cultures around the world, including here in Australia.

It is common for crisis or pain to lead us to find help and support. The problem is that much of the support I received when I was in my deepest pain, and my darkest crisis didn’t touch the source of it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
it took literally years for me to find the help that I needed and start the work of transforming my very real, every day anxiety and instability into lasting and authentic self acceptance, freedom, and a sustainable lifestyle, business and primary relationship.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They’re all connected of course.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Much of what we are taught - to regulate your emotions, or to fix your problems - can take you down even darker paths of losing trust in your body and losing faith in your choices.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Somatic therapies can help.

I love sharing the exciting and wonderful moments of life and what they teach me but just as important is to share the deeper darker ones and the gifts that they bring.

I recorded this on a really tough day last week.

Every single adversity experienced in your life has an added component of benefit and Learning, even if you can’t see that in the immediate moment.

So much of our experience is enriched when we allow the full breath of our emotion to be felt. Even the less comfortable ones.

I’m not saying you fall into a heap of tears on the floor everyday (unless you need to, and then that would be okay…!) I’m suggesting you allow the waters of emotion to flow and witness what needs to be witnessed. complete what needs to be completed.

Resolve what needs to be resolved with the wisdom that you have now.

Give yourself grace - Earth school isn’t an easy for deep feeling, hyper capable humans like us!

Stick around I have to more share on this gentle yet powerful approach to integration, making peace and increasing your emotional health.

This absolute gem from on — shared with her by a friend.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“The point is
not to try
harder
but to
resist
less.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This comes up again, and again, and again.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In our early lives, in order to get our needs met, many of us very cleverly perceive that trying harder gets us closer to the approval, love, affection, or significance, we crave.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Many of us carry the wounds of being ‘unseen’ or ‘unheard’ for who we truly are.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
All too often it isn’t a parent or carer’s intention for this to happen yet with great regularity our culture encourages certain behaviours that lead to this.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My message for you today - RESISTANCE isn’t the only way.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Learning to resist less is a skill to master over time, it’s never one and done. However, the practice of less resistance offers a heap of freedom.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’d love to hear from you if this resonates. Have you encountered resistance in your inner world? How does it show up? How do you navigate those stormy waters? How do you bring awareness to the effects of this in your life?
