Courage is not the towering oak that sees storms come and go. It is the fragile flower that opens in the snow.
- Alice Mackenzie Swain
Deep, huh? But what does it meeeeaaaaaaaaan you might ask?
Here's my take.
A large oak tree, strong, rooted and established witnesses the storms come and go but is not really affected by them. It is already established, and can withstand the weather.
But, a small flower, not as strong as the oak, blooming anyway even in the least optimal environment.... that is true courage.
To be brave or courageous isn't always obvious, or seen by others, or necessarily a big large action.
Sometimes, showing your vulnerability is the most bold thing you can do.
Sometimes, crying whilst you keep moving through the hard thing that you are doing in that moment. Showing or expressing truth. Being authentic even when you don't know if others will understand it.
These are the courageous acts of a deeply feeling, compassion led human.
I'd love to hear from you - what does courage mean to you?
