I read a quote from James Clear a while ago that has stuck with me: “Be happy in the doing” - learning to enjoy the process rather than wishing for it to be over all the time.
There are so many things in life and business that we just want to be done with and get to the end of, but the process often takes up the majority of our time that it means we’re wishing away most of it.
Sometimes this is boring admin and emails, and other times it’s literally mid-project doing what I’ve always wanted to do, but I get caught up in wishing to fast-track to the goal post at the end, only to inevitably start the process all over again on another task or project.
Thinking of this quote makes me stop and reassess what I’m doing. And maybe it’ll help you too if you’re also mid-slog, wishing for it to pass.
“When you fall in love with the process rather than the product, you don’t have to wait to give yourself permission to be happy. You can be satisfied anytime your system is running”
