We travel 190km off the Gibb River Road to access Mornington Sanctuary.

Deep in the heart of the Kimberley, Mornington is part of the sactuary, a delicately remote part of the Kimberley home to some very rare species of flora & funa.

Spending a week camping under the stars, on country & learning about the work that AWC does in the Kimberley and around Australia is nothing short of incredible. This foundation & these people are protecting one of Australia’s last extraordinary wild ecosystems, its unique wildlife, and the fragile environments make this place, so powerful and so unique.

The images that follow form part of a larger body of work I photographed while travelling into Mornington a few months ago.

What stayed with me most was the commitment and sacrifice of the staff — working far from comfort, often in extreme conditions, to help protect places that most people will never see, but that matter deeply.

Im so proud to acknowledge and support the importance of the work they do and the habitat they have created for fellow ecologists and scientists to come and learn and teach.

A foundation that survives from donations from people around the world.

Packrafting the mighty Fitzroy River.

Deep in the heart of the Kimberley we travelled deep into Mornington and paddled for hours without seeing a soul. No contact to the outside world, this is as remote as it gets. Yes there are Crocs - Salties and Fresh and no we didn’t see any. But exploring this part of the Kimberley was a once in a lifetime opportunity.

It couldn’t be missed.

Spending a week learning about the work that AWC does in the Kimberley is nothing short of incredible — These people are protecting one of Australia’s last extraordinary wild ecosystems, its unique wildlife, and the fragile ecosystems that make this place so powerful and unique.

The images that follow form part of a larger body of work I photographed while travelling through the Kimberley, spending time understanding the work AWC does on the ground, and the significance of that work in such remote and demanding locations.

What stayed with me most was the commitment and sacrifice of the staff — working far from comfort, often in extreme conditions, to help protect places that most people will never see, but that matter deeply.

Shooting an entire 10 day book project in hard natural fast moving light sure comes with its challenges, but also some sweet sweet rewards.

But after 25 years + shooting, I am truly so grateful to do what I do- to still be learning, loving and enjoying the process- but more importantly i am grateful for the amazing people I get to collaborate, create and work with along the way.
