Our first Open Day was last Saturday. More than 60 people came through the Neutral Bay studio — interior designers, commercial property, collectors, friends of D+M and people who just wandered in. An informal day with no agenda, just after honest feedback on the work. The feedback was very clear - circular economy art that tells a story.

Thanks to everyone who attended and filled out the survey. I’ve written it up in a new article coming out this week.

Southern Echoes

A tactile dialogue with the Australian landscape, exploring the delicate threshold between botanical chaos and structural form. Constructed from weathered timber and native bark salvaged from the bush, the piece features soft, chalky washes of eucalyptus green, sky blue, and warm ochre—a palette directly mirroring the shifting light of the Australian forest. Wrapping tightly around these heavy wooden columns is a wound trellis of wire, accented with sparse, deliberate clusters of seed beads. These beads are no longer mere decorative embellishments; instead, they evoke resilient native seeds, rare sap, or lichen clinging to sun-bleached branches after fire. By stripping away excess detail, the work emphasizes material honesty and restraint, inviting a quiet meditation on botanical regeneration, gravity, and the enduring spirit of place.
