Just my type – monthly font inspo from me to you

⚡ Waverly – both classic and whimsical, this is the base for a new project I’ll be revealing very soon 👀

⚡ Elio & Oliver – the perfect, vibey, subtle sans-serif. This makes me think of European summer and would be perfect for a fashion label or travel brand

⚡ Sunblum – bold, chunky, playful. Use this guy for a pop-up event, creative market or band poster

⚡ Ringreat – so many fun flourishes and curves, just imagine a dinner party invite done in this typeface *chefs kiss*

The Roundup – things I’ve been reading, listening to and watching this month.

READING: Instructions for Traveling West is a collection of poetry about realising you want more than your current situation, throwing caution to the wind and running into the unknown. has a way of making you feel a part of her slice of the world, while simultaneously describing a universal feeling. I’ve had this on pre-order for months and it’s been such a joy to start working my way through.

LISTENING TO: Like many people, I was surprised by Cowboy Carter. I was expecting the full country fantasy that was teased with the two singles, and it’s taken me a minute to sink into the album. I’ve now found my groove and it’s on repeat – the complexity and genre mixing is so interesting and layered. Current faves are Bodyguard, Tyrant and Riiverdance. Shoutout to her cover of Jolene, the tone shift is badass.

WATCHING: If you aren’t re-watching Bridgerton in preparation for season 3, what are you doing? Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton’s press tour chemistry is promising a really engaging new season, and I’ve been living for her fashion.

Just my type – monthly font inspo from me to you

Let’s kick things off with some really fun typefaces. All of these would be the perfect start point for a logo or killer as a feature typeface for headings. All of these are available on adobe fonts.

⚡ Pragmata Pro puts a new spin on classic calligraphic letter forms and would be perfect for a vibey cafe

⚡ Thrillers feels like the new run club everyone is apparently joining, or the coolest cool-girl book club

⚡ Kiln has letter press or print making connotations, perfect for a brand selling lovely, handmade goodies

⚡ And Ruddy is the perfect font for a kids clothing label. Or a kids toy label. Or dog accessories label! The possibilities are endless!

Hello! I’m Emma, the human behind Merit Creative.

I’m a designer and creative, with over a decade of experience helping brands and small businesses with their communications. I’ve worked for agencies big and small, but I find the most rewarding work is always in helping small businesses realise their full potential.

Outside of work, I’m a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs Australia so I usually have a furry sidekick who will hopefully grow up to be a guide and companion for someone with low vision or blindness. This is Fran!

I also try my hand at making pretty much everything – the latest is knitting, but I’ve been known to sew, paint, macrame, make candles, throw ceramics, arrange flowers and badly attempt diy.

✨ New work – website design for General Practice Cremorne

General Practice Cremorne’s website is a wealth of information for their patients – our job was to present it in a way that’s easy to navigate while displaying the essence of the practice and how it feels to be a patient there. And make it easy for people to book in with their GP of course!
