UNSW marine biologists have identified new techniques for protecting Australia’s soft coral by using unique markers within each coral species to learn which are most vulnerable and resistant to bleaching or rising temperatures. Australia’s coral reefs not only support ocean life and human livelihoods but live coral stores carbon, meaning the more coral we protect the better we can reduce carbon emissions- a leading goal at this year's Impact X Summit.

UNSW marine biologists have developed a method for identifying Australia’s soft corals that are most vulnerable – and most resistant – to rising sea temperatures and episodes of coral bleaching, and therefore, which species are in most urgent need of protection. The new technique, published in...

The Victorian Government has announced it will be subsidising rapid training and internships for mid-career Victorians aged 30 and over, through its $64 million Digital Job Program.

This is off the back of Deloitte predicting in 2019 that the state would need an extra 33,000 digital technology workers by 2024.

Some of the country's biggest tech players have agreed to take paid interns who complete a 12-week training course in areas like analytics, cybersecurity and programming. The training has been co-designed by industry and is delivered online by a range of universities, TAFEs and private providers.

The Victorian government is subsidising the rapid training and internships of 5,000 mid-career Victorians who move into digital technology roles to help meet increasing demand for technology skills.
