“Regional NSW is not asking for special treatment. We’re asking for fair treatment.”

A big morning on the ground in Dubbo, supporting our client the Country Women's Association (CWA) of NSW as it launched its Backing the Bush campaign at the National Bush Summit.

The campaign puts six priorities for regional, rural and remote NSW firmly on the agenda ahead of the 2027 NSW State Election, spanning healthcare, community safety, infrastructure, food and fibre security, community wellbeing and stronger regional voices in government decision-making.

Our team has been working alongside CWA of NSW on the campaign and today’s media launch, helping to turn the priorities of communities into a much-needed conversations and outcomes.

FarmFest 2026 wrapped with another record attendance of 37,356, and the numbers from our campaign for ACM show what rural content can do when it's made by people who understand the audience.

In a single campaign for the June field days, Seftons delivered:

🌾 420 individual media mentions
🌾 An advertising valuation equivalent of more than $960,000
🌾 1.8 million views across social media
🌾 Over 2,200 new followers
🌾 20,000 likes, comments and shares

From boardrooms to cattle yards, understanding regional Australia means getting close to the systems that keep it moving.

Our Digital Director, Madi Arnold, has been in the Kimberley during this muster season, getting a front-row seat to a very different kind of farming system.

Up there, the stations are the size of small European countries, but it is not just about scale. The Kimberley runs on a distinct rhythm shaped by the wet and dry seasons, with mustering often done by helicopter across vast, rugged country.

It is a good reminder that agriculture is not one neat story. Running cattle in the Kimberley looks very different to running cattle in Victoria, just as every region, industry and community has its own pressures, rhythms and realities.

That is why on-the-ground perspective matters. The more we understand the places and people shaping rural and regional Australia, the better we can help clients communicate in a way that actually lands.

Last week, we were back on the road in regional WA, supporting GRDC’s National Grower Network Winter Series.

The forums brought growers together in Northampton, Moora, Merredin and Hyden to talk through the issues, opportunities and ideas shaping local grain growing businesses.

The NGN is one of Grains Research and Development Corporation’s key channels for hearing directly from growers and advisers, and making sure future research, development and extension investment is grounded in what is happening on farm.

Seftons is pleased to support the WA Winter Series across event coordination, stakeholder communications and promotion.

As a team based in regional and rural communities ourselves, we’re always reminded that no two places are the same. Each town, district and farming system has its own character, challenges and opportunities, and that came through clearly across every stop on the series.

When someone in the bush puts their hand up for help, that help needs to be there.

In her latest column for The Land, Seftons Founder Robbie Sefton AM writes about regional mental health, the families brave enough to speak about it, and the urgent need to invest in the people who can provide support on the ground.

The column looks at the work of Hand to the Land and Country Education Foundation of Australia, who are raising funds for the Jessica Walker Memorial Scholarship program, supporting regional students studying psychology, nursing, social work and counselling.

Because country communities don’t just need more awareness. They need more trained people, more services, and more pathways for young people to come home and help.
