Rant- Today someone laughed at me as I was getting my mobility scooter up my driveway,shouting well you could just walk.I got upset and he said it was a joke!

I’d love to take my kid to school by walking but that would lead me in agony,maybe my neighbour seen me walking around and decided I was being lazy/dramatic ?

This is a reminder,people are fighting a battle that you may have no idea about! Rarely do I tell people about the pain I’m in these days. I get on with life the best I can. I deserve to be able to go out in the community and be me,invisible disabled me.

Please I beg,let me do that without Judgement.

When you are such horrendous body pain, it's hard for others to understand. You become isolated, going from one doctor to another trying find anything that helps.
Trev was a great bloke, someone that i was honored to cross paths with.

TW: Medical Gaslighting

Let’s normalize that there are young people who are disabled, that young people can be disabled, and it is ok for young people to be disabled!

My Sydney doctor once told me, at age 35, that I was too young to be disabled..?! I wasn’t in a wheelchair, and the fact that over 6 months I put together a 12-page folder of information and medical documents about my disability, proves to them I’m not disabled!

The thing is, I could no longer do all the jobs I had been educated and trained for, I kept getting fired, and the guilt cycle I suffered because I hated being unreliable.
But, my body and mental health were calling the shots. Not me.

I kept trying to pick myself up. I even re- trained myself from bed so I could work for myself. When the body allowed it..

I am so grateful that I found a great Newcastle Doctor who was willing to dig deeper. Turns out I’m Neurodiverse. He saw the pain that I was unknowingly masking in Doctor appointments.

Fibromyalgia/ Chronic Pain Syndrome is one of the most medically gaslighted disabilities, especially towards women.
Heck, I was gaslighted by friends! Whom are now no longer..

But, on a positive note, this is me after my first ride on my mobility scooter that I hope will give me more independence.

Ed and I are incredibly proud to announce our biggest ever partnership. Bunnings Trade and TradeMutt have joined forces to start a conversation about mental health among tradies right around the country.

As an Australian cultural icon for everyone from tradies, handypeople, DIY’ers and weekend warriors alike, Ed and I could not have possibly dreamt up a bigger activation with a more appropriate or recognisable brand. Over the last two years the TradeMutt, TIACS and Bunnings teams have worked tirelessly to bring this collaboration to life, with which success will ensure the long term future of TIACS and allow us to employ more counselors to meet further demand.

On July 26 at 7am, every Bunnings in Australia will be hosting a Funky Shirt Friday brekky where you’ll be able to get your hands on our exclusive Bunnings Trade conversation starting work shirt and drink bottle with 100% of the proceeds from this activation being donated to TIACS, ensuring that no tradie or blue collar worker ever has to walk alone.

Knowing how limited these shirts are, we want to ensure that the TradeMutt community has every chance to plan their Funky Shirt Friday trip to Bunnings and jag what will be sure to be a collectors edition shirt before they sell out.
