My website is nearly ready 🙌

This journey was not one I expected. When I first started making my designs over 2 years ago I thought, ‘I’ll just make some Australiana prints and go to little markets’. Easy right? Nope! Enter Covid 😷🖕Covid has made life difficult for everyone, but because going to little markets and having a grand time hasn’t been possible, it has pushed me to try and get my work online. Not something I thought I’d ever do, but always wanted to.

To anyone who’s started a small business, wow! I have new found respect for you all! I have been blindsided by the amount of work and preparation involved in starting out. You’ve got to get your products designed and be happy with them (sounds easy enough, but for a perfectionist, it’s been quite daunting), find manufacturers and suppliers, work out how to package your work, decide how to deliver your products without it taking all of your profit, photograph your work, edit images to go online, write captions, learning about SEO, start a social media page (even if you’ve avoided social media for years), and it goes on.

At each step, I’ve aimed to keep my designs made as local and as sustainable as possible because I believe in shopping ethically, supporting local and reducing my impact on the environment as best I can.

Although a lot of work, it’s been very rewarding to learn these things. And so the exciting part.. the launch! If Australian native animals 🐨 and plants 🌿 are your thing and you’d like to hear about products and special offers, please sign up with email to my ‘Opening Soon’ page @ jayneedith.com

In the springtime, you’ll see the sassy magpie strutting around the suburbs. Some people may see them as common, but I see them as graceful, proud birds. Their song is a quintessential Australian sound which never loses its magic ✨ I hope I’ve captured their spirit in this design 🥰

I always feel sad when the wattle begins to fade. The golden colour that takes over for a short while is so beautiful 💛

BUT as the wattle disappears into the warmer weather, it means summer isn’t too far away!! ☀️😀I’m looking forward to summer this year more than any other year. I’m feeling positive that we’ll be back with our families and friends again shaking off this sh*tty time we’ve all had. I want to hug my Mum and Dad and have a beer at the pub!🥂🍻
