My home office is still working madly to get books made and out to customers. This is one of the generic ones available at telferprint.com.au Pages are printed, Covers are made and inside it has a data sheet and a custom writing plate. Today I have made 48 of them and have another 32 to finish.

After 22 yrs we have made the decision to have a home based office. We still do all that we did at our rented premises. Soif you are looking for us or someone tells you we have closed. No we have only closed the shed we rented so now I get to do some of my home jobs during the day. We thank you for your support over the years and can still be contacted on our normal phone number and email.

Some of you will be aware that paper can build up static electricity. So it is painful to run through the collator. (it misses or feeds doubles) when the pages are numbered and it is a 3 part carbonless (NCR) I need it to be accurate. This afternoon it was 50 books with 50 sets per book. We have worked out that by holding one end of the heap belting the other end down on the bench it makes not only a huge noise but seems to help lots and the pages feed better. However Note to self, stand far enough away from the bench so you dont hit your knuckle on the edge of the bench. Ouch it hurts.

Today was interesting, press and collator do not like paper that has absorbed moisture. So it was a slow collate and print job. Hopefully tomorrow will be drier. We are working on a new book to add to web site and have a good supply of pre-printed books available.

Last week I was told there was a traffic jam at my bench as I had lots of collating and binding to do. Today the jam was at the stapler . Guess who will have the traffic jam again tomorrow, I have truck checklist to finish, Truck with crane lift arm to finish, 100 consignment note books to finish and pack and about 100 carbonless books. I am sure it must be thursday already. Guess I will be head down tomorrow

Today I had the job of turning the handle on the press, and helping to dismantle it so a bearing could be replaced. Not sure my clothes will ever be the same as they found grease and green and yellow ink. On the upside press is running beautifully.

Had a little smile today. A paper rep came and I told him I was disappointed that I could not buy a paper size that we use. 455x650. He said I can get it is sheets 650 x 910 x 500 sheets. Yes, but I cant lift that size pack on my own I told him. (husband and I normally carry an end each) He said it's fine you just throw it over your shoulder and carry it. Yeah right, that is equivalent to 9 reams of A4 paper. And the paper is packed to open easy (for guillotine operators) so I can just see sheets all over the floor. Maybe the paper rep needs to spend time in a print shop, but not ours, I dont think he would last long.

Have you ever found yourself talking to a piece of equipment and almost begging it. "Please stop throwing double sheets! the books need to be accurate and the set numbers match." I was making carbonless books and the damp air makes the pages wrinkle so the collator was picking up multiple pages which meant the numbers were out, so having to fix them by hand. What should have been a 30 min job took me about 3 hrs.
