37 years.
This is my thank you.
Some businesses sell products.
We became part of your life.
After 37 years behind the counter… I still find it hard to put this moment into words.
Back in 1989, I never imagined Photopro would become such a huge part of my life. What started as a passion for photography slowly became something much bigger, a community, a second home, and honestly, one of the greatest privileges I could’ve hoped for.
And now… It’s time for a new chapter.
I’m proud to share that Photopro is officially being passed into the hands of A Scott Mullaly. Scott brings years of experience across printmaking, screen printing, creative production, and the industry as a whole. Still, more importantly, he’s a genuinely good person who truly cares about people and the craft behind what we do. From the moment we started talking, I knew Photopro would be in safe hands.
The funny thing is, this business was never really about cameras or printing photos.
It was always about the moments.
The parents see their newborn's photos for the first time and tear up at the counter. The couples collecting wedding photos and reliving the best day of their lives. The grandparents proudly framing family portraits. The conversations, the laughter, the stories people shared while waiting for prints.
Most days felt less like work and more like being trusted with little pieces of people’s lives.
That trust is something I’ll never take for granted.
To every customer who ever walked through our doors, thank you. Thank you for letting us be part of your milestones, your memories, your ordinary days that later became priceless. You gave this place its soul.
And to everyone who worked beside me over the years, thank you. You helped shape Photopro into something far more special than I ever could’ve built alone. The friendships, the laughs, the chaos during busy seasons, I’ll carry all of it with me.
There’s also someone very special I want to thank properly… my great friend Dan Mills.
For years, Dan has quietly volunteered one day a week in the store, never asking for recognition, payment, or anything in return. He simply showed up because he cared. Behind the scenes, he helped complete countless orders, steadily chipping away at the workload without customers ever really knowing he was there.
Most people who picked up their photos or prints would never realise how much of Dan’s time and generosity helped make it happen.
That kind of loyalty, kindness, and quiet support is rare in this world, and I will never forget it. Thank you, Dan. Photopro is part of your story too.
To my beautiful wife and family, thank you for standing beside me through all the long hours, the risks, the stress, and the triumphs. Your love and support carried me further than you’ll ever know.
As for me… after nearly four decades in this industry I still love, I’ve decided it’s time to step out of my comfortable little bubble and see what else life has in store. No grand plan yet — which is equal parts exciting and “what have I done?!” — but I’m trusting the road will reveal itself.
Definitely not retirement though. I’ve spent too long connecting with people to suddenly master the art of sitting still. So if anyone needs an extra pair of hands, a calm head, and someone who actually gets people and relationships… maybe our paths will cross. Who knows what’s next? I’m curious to find out.
Photopro’s story is far from over. In many ways, it’s just turning the page to a fresh new chapter.
So please continue supporting Scott as he carries Photopro forward with fresh energy and vision, while keeping the heart of the business alive.
From the bottom of my heart… thank you.
For the memories.
For the friendships.
For 37 unforgettable years in this industry.
With gratitude,
Kerwin Ross

Ps: I'll be in the store all week if anyone wants to catch-up. 🥰
