Happy Friday! We made it through another week; it went by way too quickly, and I still have no idea where some of those days went, but it’s time to wind down and get ready for the weekend.

Highlights this week include finalising some work on one of my favourite designer’s websites. TBD Design wanted to refresh their look without a complete overhaul, which is a fantastic idea every couple of years for websites. Travis knows all about what’s on trend and what trends will last, so it was great working to help bring his ideas to life!

On the more secret side, I finished a CMS install, leaving only content loading to go. I can’t wait to share the impending launch of another client’s website. Didn’t get any designing done this week (although there’s still time today, we’ll see). And we got a new design to cut up from another Marketing firm we work with, which we’ve been hard at work coding up. It’s super exciting and has a hard deadline, so it’ll be ready to share at the end of the month and is one of the more complicated sites we build (which is always fun because who doesn’t love problem-solving).

That’s another week down, and only a couple of weeks until the next public holiday of the year! Long weekend anyone?

Can you believe it’s Monday already, the weekends go so quickly.

This week we’re hitting the books hard, and by hitting the books I mean we’re doing a tonne of coding! Top Priority is some Design Cut Ups, and then we need to finalise a CMS Install (I’m going to use that acronym a lot so you guys are going to have to learn it - Content Management System, ie Wordpress). So that we can get to the interesting stuff, content loading (the final part of the web dev process before we show it to the client!)

I get code washed if I just do development all day every day so I have some design in there for when I need a break, I love creating new designs so I’m stoked to hook into it. I’ll keep ya’ll updated to see how we go.  What’re you working on this week?

Welcome to 2023! We are back, we did a soft start to the year and didn’t tell anyone we were open most of this week. (We didn’t really tell anyone how long we were closing for) but we hit the work queue hard this week, was great to see how many businesses used this time to do internal work (glad we weren’t alone in this). This week we achieved so much! We worked with a few clients on their new year new looks for their websites, we cut up some designs, did the tiniest amount of Content Management System Builds, and did so much admin!

The soft start to the week meant we were able to have a couple of sleep ins (which is a necessity on rainy days like today) and early finishes to the day, but next week we’re back on board fully, so its back to early starts and full days, which I am surprisingly looking forward to because you get so much more done!

Looking forward to seeing what the new year brings!

Taking something that you enjoy doing and making a career out of it can be terrifying. Knowing you can do a job is very different from knowing you can run a business and make money out of it. Our office is full of entrepeneurs, we're constantly creating new software, new apps, and coming up with new business ideas. Not all of them work 🤷‍♀️ but that's okay! I'd rather fail a hundred times than constantly wonder what if.

☁️ We often get asked, “What’s behind the name Cloud Three?” – and we actually love sharing this story.

Cloud Three started with two companies, one was a tech firm and the other a web firm. The web firm decided to work with the tech firm to help them make more technical and eye-catching websites.

We actually got along so well that we became close friends and decided that this wasn’t something we wanted to do only occasionally. So we joined forces and now our team are able to provide websites that are uniquely designed and include all the functionality that you could ever imagine.

The work we do is to do with the internet which is often referred to as the ‘cloud.’ So with a team of 3 people working with cloud technologies, it was only fitting that we went by the name Cloud Three.

💻 Did you know the success of any website is largely dependent on its design? A well-designed website doesn’t necessarily mean what it looks like but also how it feels to use and how it works.

So how do you know if your website is performing effectively? Well checking your analytics would be a great place to start but there are also some key principles to look out for.

✅ Load Time – Did you know that 53% of mobile website visitors will leave a site if it doesn’t load within 3 seconds? Your site’s load time needs to be fast. There are several quick and inexpensive ways to speed up a site’s load time and we’d be happy to show you how.

We love seeing our client’s projects come to life after hard work behind the scenes. Great collaboration with our clients is key to making this happen. There are some golden rules to remember when managing your website in order to get more ❤️ from google and increase the number of visitors to your site.

Here’s how:

✅ Update your website regularly – do not fall into the trap of thinking that websites are a once off investment that you can set and forget. You need to update monthly to prevent it from falling in search engine rankings and to ensure it stays responsive. Regular updates will also protect your business from cyber threats and reduce your risk of getting hacked
✅ Write regular blogs and keep your website content updated. Make sure your services are up to date and you are always writing about your recent projects and the work you’re doing. Tell your website everything that people will need to know about your business so they know who you are, what you do and where to find you
✅ CACHING! Install a caching plugin or integrate with a caching platform. It’s cheap and easy to do and speeds up your website which google loves
✅ Stop using Meta Tags - they are dead. Instead use Meta descriptions as a call-to-action for search snippets
✅ Use high quality imagery on your website and do not ‘borrow’ images from google. There are plenty of free/paid stock image websites that you can use or even better, use a local photographer or try to take some high-quality photos yourself. Quality images will help attract more visitors to your site because it increases your site's SEO value and decreases your bounce rate.
