It’s all too often that we come across a ‘bored employee’. As a shopper it’s not a good look on your business to see an employee sitting around like a stunned mullet or staring at their phone screen.
Sorry, but it doesn’t make your business appealing at all.
What to do? Encourage your employees to utilise this free time to help with the marketing of your business. For example, employees in the area of cosmetics and beauty – challenge them to find or capture new shot angles or short videos of your products or research quirky quotes to attach to images.
It’s always a great idea to research hashtags that apply to your products and note what trends are occurring. Fuel that inspiration!
For the first few months you might need an incentive to make it a habit. An example could be;
- Whoever gets the most content published in a month receives a bottle of Champers (tailor the prize to suit your teams liking's).
- Alternatively the post that receives the most amount of engagement (likes, comments, shares) could take out the prize.
Opportunity lies in those who engage directly with your client base. Ask your team to write down common or unusual questions that they receive about a product/service and during those down times create a post on it. Keep a book specifically for this under your reception counter - it will serve as a reminder.
Relating to your audience is key! You never know, that new post could be a total hit and attract new customers through the door.
We encourage you to start this social media challenge with your employees and get that business identity and employee morale lifted.
After all we feel pretty damn good if our post gets a lot of likes :)
Convert your employees boredom into money....
