Many people see this as two separate roles, however as someone with 15 years in sales and marketing, I can hand on heart say these two roles are intrinsically linked. In saying this, a great sales person is not a great marketer, and a great marketer is not a great sales person. But they work together like wine and cheese! For example if you had a dental service where anyone with teeth is your potential market, you might want to target families with multiple kids within 15km of your service, as these groups will have a longer lifetime value than a younger couple who get two cleans a year.
