Why I Started Communeco

Back in 2014, after two decades as a journalist (which had begun at a daily newspaper in Wagga Wagga, Australia), I felt a pull to focus deeper. I’d spent years writing for publications such as WellBeing, Australian Natural Health, Nature & Health, and Nourish, with regular columns dedicated to ethical, sustainable, and natural living.

I had already built a successful eco beauty blog that connected me with conscious brands and change-makers. I’d worked as a features and beauty editor for Australia’s top bridal magazine, and later as a publicist and editor in Hollywood.

Yet, the more I wrote, the more I realised: it wasn’t enough just to tell stories to sell magazines, or to publicise people purely for entertainment. I wanted to amplify the voices of those creating good in the world. And that’s how Communeco was born, its name drawn from Communications and Eco.

In the beginning, it was rooted in PR and communications, shining a light on brands, businesses and people who deserved to be seen. Over time, I had the privilege of working with coaches, businesses, brands, thought leaders, and influencers who were all committed to making an impact.

Now, after four years away, working on a major celebrity portfolio and social impact project, I’ve returned to where it all began. Only now, an evolution has taken place.

Today, Communeco is a complete branding and storytelling studio, a place where strategy meets soul, and where purpose-led businesses are given the clarity and voice they need to be seen, felt, and heard.

The vision remains the same: to help those doing good in the world rise higher.
