Help keep the Warren Star shining: Your local paper needs you
Letter from the manager editor, Lucie Peart
Two years ago, the Warren Star was launched with a simple but powerful mission: to return a trusted voice to the people of Warren after the closure of The Warren Weekly.
Established by independent local publishers from neighbouring shires, the Warren Star was built from the ground up, committed to telling local stories, covering local issues, and giving Warren back its own newspaper.
Since then, we’ve worked tirelessly to support our community. We’ve shared the achievements of local students and sports teams, spotlighted hardworking community volunteers, covered council decisions, and celebrated the milestones that make regional NSW special.
We’ve been proud to be part of your lives; turning up at events, checking in with local businesses, and making sure our pages reflect the voices of Warren.
But now we need your support.
Like many small, independent newspapers across Australia, the Warren Star is facing significant financial pressure.
The media landscape has changed dramatically in recent years. Rising print and distribution costs, competition from social media, and shrinking advertising budgets have hit hard.
These challenges are not unique to us. They’re being felt by small businesses everywhere but for small publishers like us, they’re especially critical. Despite our passion and commitment, the reality is this: without greater support from local advertisers and the wider community, we simply won’t be able to keep going.
A local newspaper is more than just a business. It’s part of the community’s identity. When a town loses its paper, it loses a platform for shared news, a record of local life, and a place where residents can stay informed, connected and proud of where they live.
We believe Warren deserves its own paper, run locally, for locals, and we’ve done everything we can to make that happen.
Now, we’re asking for your help. If you’re a business, please consider advertising with us - even a small ad makes a big difference.
If you’re a reader, help by spreading the word, or encouraging your workplace or group to support the paper financially through advertising.
Every contribution helps keep the Warren Star alive. We’re here because we believe in Warren.
Let’s work together to make sure Warren doesn’t lose its voice again.
