F1 SIGNAGE: Sometimes you have to hang it before you hang it.

This custom suspended lightbox for RaRa Ramen was one of those builds where the simplicity of the finished product hides a lot of complexity behind it.

Fabricated as a large suspended structure, every detail had to work together — frame alignment, illuminated panels, the underside grid, light consistency, suspension points and the overall finish.

With something of this scale, we weren’t prepared to find out on site whether everything worked as intended. So we suspended the entire lightbox in our factory and fully commissioned it before it left our doors.

Build it. Hang it. Test it. Then install it.

The result — a pretty special centrepiece for RaRa Ramen.⁠⁠⁠

F1 SIGNAGE: Signage at Sydney Airport is never just signage.

For Loulou Boulangerie & Traiteur at Sydney Airport, the finished result looks simple — a set of beautifully illuminated fabricated letters. Getting there was anything but simple.

The main feature needed to follow the exact curvature of a newly constructed column. Our team mapped the circumference and diameter, then used 3D modelling software to accurately design and fabricate the structure and letter sets to suit.

Then there’s the airport environment itself. Working inside a live airport means strict security protocols, moving tools and materials through security, night works, noise restrictions, curfews, permits and an approved Airport Works Plan (AWP) — all while coordinating around one of Australia's busiest operational environments. It takes planning. A lot of it.

But that's the part of signage people don't always see.⁠⁠⁠

We're really proud of the team we've built at Factory One. To show our appreciation, we have started a tradition of giving a quarterly award to the team member that strives to meet our Core Values in every aspect of their work – this rounds winner is Benji! The award has been coined the 'Stormin Norman' award in memory of Andrew's late father who demonstrated all these qualities in his working life.
Well done Benji, you have displayed the Factory One can-do attitude and a eagerness to learn, so this is very well deserved! ⁠⁠⁠
