🚩 Why shouldn’t you use Canva for your logo?
As a brand designer, this is something I am passionate about.
Don’t get me wrong, I adore Canva as an accessible design tool that can save you time & money on simple projects.
But, trusting it for the backbone of your brand (aka. Your logo & branding), is a risk.
Here’s why…
🚩 It’s not exclusively yours
Designs created in Canva cannot be exclusively trademarked as your own design, meaning they aren’t yours. Stock photos, graphics or templates created in Canva are owned by Canva or their contributors. Unless you have created a unique Canva design using solely basic shapes, lines or fonts, you won’t own the rights to your logo.
But, this brings me to my second point…
🚩 It’s not unique
If you are using templates or basic shapes, lines and fonts in Canva to create your logo, chances are thousands of people are doing the same. I don’t know about you, but I want my logo to stand out from the crowd, not be a replica of hundreds of others. Your logo should be unique, designed strategically to represent your business and resonate with your audience. A cookie cutter won’t cut it.
🚩 It’s difficult to scale
Logos created in Canva are often created in pixel-based formats (image files), rather than in a vector. This means that when you take that lovely logo from Canva and go to your local printer or web designer to have it added to other business assets, it will appear pixelated or blurry. This stops you from being to enlarge your logo to the require size or use it in different formats. Super unhelpful!
If you are reading this and thinking “oh crap, that’s me”. Don’t stress! You are not alone and there is no judgement here.
If you are ready to level-up your logo with a professional design that gives you ownership, flexibility AND stands out, well, hello 👋🏻 you are in the right place.
I have a neatly packaged (and very welcoming) ‘brand bar’ of three logo offers designed to meet you at your stage and budget in business.
