Guthrie has proudly joined the 🌊❤️💛🖤 Sea of Hearts movement 🌊 💚 🖤🤍💙 alongside Connecting the Dots through Culture as part of our ongoing commitment to Reconciliation.
Our conversations, and learning experiences, have focused on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories. Embracing this year’s National Reconciliation Week theme, All In, we invited the Tresillian community to participate in Guthrie’s Sea of Hearts.
Families, children, educators, and community members have been provided with a heart to decorate, showing their solidarity, support and celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Each heart becomes part of our growing display. Stay tuned as we watch our wave of hearts continue to grow throughout the week and reach out into our community. Every heart matters. Every voice matters. Together, we are all in. ❤️💛🖤💚🤍💙

Today we joined children and families across Australia for Simultaneous Storytime, sharing the beautiful story Luna Roo. 🌙🦘📚 The story explored themes of silencing self-doubt, believing in your own skills and learning to trust and support your teammates. The children extended on these ideas at our small world play, creating their own games and teamwork scenarios using animal figures on a homemade soccer pitch crafted from recycled materials. ⚽♻️ It was wonderful to see the children using storytelling, imagination and collaborative play to explore confidence, resilience and connection in meaningful ways. 💛

✨ After recalling the magic of our Guthrie Vivid lights last year, the children excitedly asked, “Can we do them again?” ✨ This sparked conversations and learning how solar lights work, with the children sharing their knowledge of how the sun powers the lights to shine at night. The children worked together to create a plan for where our lights should be placed, with a very popular request…“a rainbow, rainbow everywhere!” 🌈
Watching the children bring their ideas to life has filled our spaces with colour, wonder and creativity once again. 💡✨

Today we celebrate and acknowledge the incredible work our Tresillian nurses do each and every day. ❤️ The children have been busy creating “Super Nurse” bookmarks, filled with love and appreciation, which were gifted to our wonderful nurses today alongside a plate of delicious lemon myrtle cookies they made themselves using lemon myrtle picked from our very own bush tucker garden. 🌿🍪
A small gesture to say a very big thank you for the care, support and kindness our nurses provide to children and families every day. Happy Nurses Day! 👩‍⚕️✨

Today we pause to honour and remember the bravery, sacrifice, and spirit of all those who have served and continue to serve our country this Anzac Day.

This week we’ve been learning about ANZAC Day through stories, creativity, and hands-on experiences. Children engaged with stories such as Anzac Biscuits and Anzac Ted, which helped introduce the history and significance of this important day in a meaningful and age-appropriate way.
The Children baked Anzac biscuits together, building independence and a sense of connection to tradition. They also interacted with our own special Anzac teddy, bringing the story to life through imaginative play.
After learning about the symbolism of poppies the children created their own, which were then combined to form a beautiful wreath to honour and remember. Engaging our senses, the children explored playdough infused with home-grown rosemary, linking to remembrance and reflection through scent and touch.

From garden 🌱 to plate 🍽️ and back to garden again ♻️ Today our Guthrie children harvested fresh capsicums from the garden and took their learning a step further carefully cut them up themselves; building their independence skills! This hands-on involvement sparked curiosity and excitement, with many children eager to taste what they had grown… even those who hadn’t wanted to try capsicum before 👏

We didn’t stop there! The children collected the capsicum seeds to save for future planting and added the leftover scraps to our worm farm, to be turned into organic fertiliser for our garden. A beautiful full-circle moment of sustainability, learning, and growth 🌿✨

🐰🌼 Happy Easter to our wonderful Guthrie community! 🌼🐰 Wishing all of our children, families, friends and educators a joyful and relaxing Easter filled with happiness, laughter and special moments with loved ones. We’ve had a wonderful time celebrating Easter this week! 🐰🌼 The children have been busy practicing their balance, hopping and jumping on our Bunny Hop-scotch, while also building language skills through our small world Easter play space. 🐇✨
In preparation for our Easter Egg Hunt, the children helped create invitations by writing words and drawing pictures. We proudly carried out our Easter Egg Hunt today and were joined by children, parents and grandparents who searched for plastic eggs together, filling our garden with excitement and laughter. 🥚💛 The children then exchanged their eggs for bliss balls; a healthy treat suitable for everyone to enjoy. 🍫🌿
It’s been a joyful week of movement, creativity, collaboration and celebration. Happy Easter from all of us! 🐣🌸
