Originally from the Philippines, Joan has transformed her study journey into an inspiring story of entrepreneurship, professional excellence and community contribution in the Northern Territory.

As Principal Partner of SAMAF Consultants Palmerston, Director of Global NT Pty Ltd, trading as Darwin Detailing & Tinting, and JLT & Associates Pty Ltd, Joan has demonstrated outstanding leadership across multiple businesses while building a reputation as a trusted accounting and business professional. Her success reflects the innovation, determination and expertise international graduates bring to the Territory's economy and workforce.

Beyond her professional achievements, Joan remains committed to giving back to the community through initiatives such as the Charles Darwin University Free Tax Clinic. Her contributions, alongside numerous state and national award nominations and finalist placements in business, leadership and accounting, highlight her ongoing impact as a mentor, leader and advocate for professional excellence.

🎉 EXCITING NEWS — CDU ALUMNI AWARDS FINALIST! 🎓🏆

We are incredibly proud to share that Joan Liwanag Tran, Director of Darwin Detailing & Tinting, has been named a Finalist in the 2026 Charles Darwin University Alumni Awards – International Alumni Awards Category.

This is a very special achievement and one that we are proud to celebrate as part of the Darwin Detailing & Tinting family.

Joan’s journey in the Northern Territory began in June 2023, when she arrived in Darwin as an international student to pursue her Master of Professional Accounting (Professional Practice) at Charles Darwin University.

While studying, Joan continued building her professional career and entrepreneurial journey, becoming involved in community initiatives, volunteering through the CDU Free Tax Clinic, and supporting outreach to regional and remote communities.

At the same time, Joan has continued to grow as an entrepreneur and business leader.

As Director of Darwin Detailing & Tinting, Joan has been part of the journey of growing the business, which began in 2020 and underwent a major rebrand in 2024.

Today, Darwin Detailing & Tinting continues to provide professional window tinting, proudly serving vehicle owners across Darwin and the Northern Territory.

Joan’s journey has also received recognition locally, across Australia and internationally, with multiple awards, finalist nominations and opportunities recognising her contribution to business, education, leadership, community and professional development.

From building a local automotive business to pursuing higher education, volunteering in the community and establishing herself as an accounting professional and business adviser, Joan has continued to challenge herself to learn, grow and create opportunities for others.

Her CDU Alumni Awards finalist recognition is a reflection not only of her individual journey, but also of the people and communities who have supported her along the way — including her family, clients, colleagues, business partners, mentors and the Northern Territory community.

As a business, we are especially proud to see one of our Directors recognised by Charles Darwin University for the journey she has built since arriving in the Territory as an international student.

From arriving in Darwin in 2023 to becoming a business owner, Director, accountant, community volunteer and CDU Alumni Awards finalist in 2026 — Joan’s story is one of resilience, determination and making the most of every opportunity.

What a massive milestone for Darwin Detailing & Tinting. 🙏🏽

After recently being recognised as a finalist in the 2026 Australian Small Business Champions Awards, we’re proud to announce that DDT has now received another NATIONAL recognition, officially a finalists in the 2026 Australian Trades Small Business Champion Awards for the Automotive Service Category.

And to top it off, we’ve also just been nominated for the 2026 NT Local Business Awards.

This journey has been bigger than just building a business. It’s been about proving that a local Darwin business can compete and stand alongside the best in Australia. Back-to-back recognition, not just locally in the NT, but nationwide, is something we don’t take lightly.
