Not too long ago, I found myself in a bit of a sticky situation with a (now former) client, I made the costly mistake of operating on good faith, and not having a contract in place. I was a people pleaser who wanted everyone to like me, and in the process I started accepting less than I deserved. Clients constantly disrespected my boundaries, and would straight up ignore working hours. It was a tough lesson to learn, but it taught me that clients are not friends (although after months of mutual respect and bonding, they CAN become friends), and that's okay! Clients won't always be happy with you, they won't always like you, but if you hold strong with your boundaries they will respect you.
This experience reminded me of the importance of respecting my own boundaries, and not accepting less. It's okay to make mistakes, sometimes you just need to take a breath, and remind yourself that you are a badass, and you deserve everything.
So here's to embracing our mistakes as opportunities for growth and learning.
