Today, Sophia ran her very first Calm Crafts stall at her school fair.
She was nervous before it started, but once she got going she was completely in her element.
Chatting to people, sharing her creations, explaining the different sensory items and welcoming customers to her little corner of calm.
The most special part wasn’t the sales or the numbers.
It was watching people show up for her.
Family, friends and members of our community came along to support her.
Conor from stopped by to encourage her, both sides of our family called in, and so many wonderful people took the time to stop, chat and support her.
She was especially delighted to meet other children who connected with her creations and shared similar interests.
Watching those connections, seeing her smile light up when familiar faces appeared, and seeing people genuinely interested in what she had created meant more than I can explain here.
At the end of the day, she started giving away some of her affirmation pocket hearts. She even gave one to the principal that said, “You matter.”
That sums Sophia up perfectly.
A child with a huge heart who loves kindness, connection and helping people feel seen.
This year especially there have been challenges, worries and difficult days.
But today was a beautiful reminder that when neurodivergent children are given opportunities to follow their interests, share their strengths and be celebrated for who they are, they can absolutely thrive.
And thrive she did.
The icing on the cake?
Calm Crafts raised money for the school fair and Sophia has now been invited to have a stall at in a couple of weeks, which she is delighted about.
Thank you to every person who stopped by, bought something, shared a kind word or simply cheered her on here!
Today was about so much more than a market stall.
It was about confidence, belonging, community and joy.
Your kindness means so much.
From my heart to yours 💕
