Meta is rolling out subscription versions of Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram.

FREE FOREVER seems to have just been a placeholder until they could find a way to make it rain the big bucks.

Sure, the services will remain free for most users and nothing with change in the short to medium term, we can expect that much beloved and widely used features may find themselves mysteriously disappearing behind the pay wall.

Subscriptions are taking over and nothing is sacred. While we shouldn’t be surprised it seems like companies today expect that consumers have elastic budgets that can ever expand with more and more subscription models.

But with prices rising and wages freezing, there is less and less room in budgets to spare.

Would you pay to use Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram? Or would you say ‘bye bye bye!’ to Meta and the big three?

*UNPOPULAR OPINION - The Luce looks GREAT; but it’s not a Ferrari. Ferrari has built a reputation for a certain aesthetic and while it can be a good thing to shake things up a bit, what they clearly didn’t learn from Jaguar is that controversial steps away from brand equity and legacy often doesn’t go over very well.

Jony Ive and team, in my view, created a mostly amazing car (tail lights do not match), and we should have known that with an electric Ferrari some kind of statement was going to be made.

It may have better served them to go the route of no distinction - “Of course it’s a Ferrari” a campaign featured on everything you know and love about the brand and the car and oh yeah, it’s an EV.

Instead, they delivered a beautiful dud, that many are lamenting doesn’t honour the ethos of the luxury, Italian, iconic brand.

What do you think of the Luce? Hit or miss?

came to Barbados. Political undertones aside, there are perspectives we can take away and lessons we can learn.

Speed was on the ground for 4 hours. They had little time to cram in all the possible things. Yet they did a lot.

Speed’s tactics are different, targeting a generation with zero spending power….right now. But the will grow up, get jobs and families and who knows? The seeds of interest have been planted in people who otherwise would have had no clue what of where Barbados is.

So yeah, Speed and his team got a few things wrong; the local on the ground support team didn’t have all the knowledge they needed and they freely admitted that.

The visit did not carry the DNA of a planned and polished tourism campaign but of a 21 year old twitch streamer looking to do anything for the chat.

But what we can take away is that times and interests are changing. What worked for our grandparents won’t work for us. And what works for us won’t work for those who come after us.

There was a LOT to criticise about the visit but also a lot to learn and a lot we can benefit from.

As a region, it’s up to us to decide if we will ride the wave of positive attention or decide that we will keep peddling the same tactics in a changing internet landscape.

We are happy to have worked with from 2023-2025. Last year we worked with their marketing team to streamline their campaigns under one versatile, cohesive theme

Rooted in bajan vernacular and suited to their active media and campaign schedule year round, Doin De Most is a theme for all seasons, whether Agrofest, Easter, Rally, Summer, Back-to-School or Ham Season!

Kudos to their amazing team for trusting us with their vision and we look forward to what they do next with the theme!

It’s been a wild Q1 for business in Barbados. With the closure, withdrawal or downsizing of Trinidad-based businesses amidst the tense regional/political climate, there is a lot of uncertainty. As government unveils its 2026 Budget, Bajan businesses need to be thinking differently and capitalising on opportunities created by gaps that may occur in the market by closures, withdrawals and downsizing of TT based businesses.

A micro-financing and small-business friendly regulatory environment, coupled with an interest in innovation, diversifying services, growth and succession planning could be ways we can fill gaps and create home grown, sustainable solutions to the local market needs.

To paraphrase Stephen Covey, if we keep doing what we’ve always done, we’ll keep getting what we’ve always gotten.

NOT A POLITICAL POST - But seriously, like them or hate them, people with strong personal brands have the power to shape narratives, conversations and navigate the world with confidence.

And while every personal brand may not be your cup of tea, it needs to be distinct, genuine and relatable to its audience.

Barack Obama, Donald Trump and our Prime Minister the Hon. Mia Mottley are three identifiable western leaders from the past 20 years who have developed clear personal brands.

Each of them evokes within you a specific feeling; whether you are inspired or outraged, their personal brand is reflected by their style of leadership, ways of communicating, results of their actions, who they associate with.

What is your personal brand? What influence and impact do you want to leave on others and on the world?

A personal brand should be genuine, reflect your values and connect with those you are seeking to attract.

It should precede in the spaces in which you are seeking to operate and leave behind a lasting impression.
Take a moment and ask yourself, how do I want others to think of me? What kind of impression do I want to leave behind? And, what am I doing to influence that.

The truth about payment cycles is that they are not always in our favour. Whether it small and micro businesses, corporations….or government, slow payment cycles can make or break a business.

Individual business owners do not have the working capital like big businesses of old did. Often times margins are slim and bills are on time.

Here are. A few things we can do to buffer against that risk:

💰 Invest: Let your money work for you. Find a reputable and trustworthy financial advisory that understands your needs and goals to help you make the right choices for you and your business

🪺 Diversify your client base: don’t have all the same types of clients paying on the same cycles. That creates pressure on your cashflow

🚨Have contingency funds: whether it is a line of credit or other similar instrument, having access funds you can lean on in an emergency is crucial

💸💸 Go beyond break even: Making double your monthly expenses in one month can help you build reserves - often called runway - that allow you to ride out the hard times with confidence and peace of mind

What other tips can you think of to help business people buffer the pain of long payment cycles?

Imagine a world where we let imagination guide innovation. Too often we get caught up too soon in all the reasons why we can’t and don’t stop to think ‘what if we tried?’

Imagination is key to innovation and without it we remain stuck in doing things the same way, getting the same or worse results.

So what happens when we ask ‘what if?’

Shout out to for hosting an amazing for 2026! I was reminded of one lesson I have learnt from being in business over the years.

Lesson 9: Mind your business. Build your own. Tend your garden. At your own pace. Everyone develops and grows differently. Pay attention to growing what you have been given to grow and don’t spend time reaching for the successes of others.

Social media, social circles and even well meaning friends and family can sometimes make us feel pressured into reaching for things that we’re not ours to reach for.

Instead take time to value your journey, see the uniqueness in your process and if you have to make changes do so in a way that grows you in the right ways.

Hey Guys. No video today so have a great weekend! See you fresh on Monday.
