🚫 What Is De-duplication?
De-duplication means removing duplicate conversion events that Facebook receives from multiple sources — for example:
One event comes from Meta Pixel (browser-side)
Another identical event comes from Conversions API (server-side)
Without de-duplication, Facebook may count the same event twice, making your ad results inaccurate.
💡 Why De-duplication Is Needed
1. Avoid Double Counting
If both Pixel and CAPI send the same purchase event, Facebook could record two purchases instead of one.
👉 That inflates metrics like Purchases, ROAS, and Conversion Rate — giving you false performance data.
2. Accurate Reporting
When de-duplication is properly set up, Facebook correctly identifies that both signals (Pixel + CAPI) belong to the same user action and counts only one conversion.
👉 This keeps your analytics, optimization, and reporting accurate and reliable.
3. Better Optimization
Facebook’s AI and algorithms depend on accurate event data to optimize ads.
If your data includes duplicates, Facebook’s system gets confused and can misinterpret your results — leading to poor targeting and wasted ad spend.
4. Improved Data Resilience
With browser restrictions (like iOS 14+), some Pixel events are blocked.
CAPI helps by sending those events server-side — and de-duplication ensures CAPI doesn’t conflict with Pixel data.
👉 You get complete, non-duplicated, and privacy-compliant tracking.
🧩 Example
Let’s say a user buys a product:
Pixel sends a “Purchase” event from their browser.
CAPI sends the same “Purchase” event from your server.
Both include a unique Event ID (e.g., event_id: order123).
Facebook compares them — sees they match — and keeps only one record.
🚀 Improve Your Facebook Ad Performance with Accurate Data Tracking!
When you send events through both Meta Pixel (browser-side) and Conversions API (server-side), you must use de-duplication to prevent double counting.
This ensures accurate conversions, better optimization, and smarter ad decisions.
👉 Don’t let duplicated data hurt your ROAS — set up server-side tracking and event ID matching the right way!
