জাতীয় নাগরিক কমিটির (এনসিপি) দক্ষিণাঞ্চলের মুখ্য সংগঠক হাসনাত আবদুল্লাহ বলেছেন, নির্বাচন যত দ্রুত সম্ভব হওয়া উচিত। তবে সেটা অবশ্যই গণপরিষদ নির্বাচন হতে হবে। নভেম্বর, ডিসেম্বর কিংবা জানুয়ারিতে—যেকোনো সময় নির্বাচন হোক। কিন্তু পুরোনো নিয়মে না। জনগণের সামনে প্রকৃত অপশন থাকতে হবে।

আলাস্কায় মার্কিন প্রেসিডেন্ট ডোনাল্ড ট্রাম্প ও রুশ প্রেসিডেন্ট ভ্লাদিমির পুতিনের বহুল আলোচিত বৈঠক ঘিরে আলাদাভাবে শঙ্কিত ছিলেন ইউরোপের নেতারা। আকারে-ইঙ্গিতে এমনকি সরাসরিও তারা আশঙ্কা প্রকাশ করেছেন, ইউক্রেনকে বাদ দিয়েই রাশিয়ার সঙ্গে যুদ্ধবিরতি চুক্তি করতে পারেন ট্রাম্প। তাদের ধারণা ছিল, ট্রাম্প হয়তো ইউক্রেনকে চাপ দিয়ে রাশিয়ার স্বার্থে সমঝোতায় রাজি করিয়ে ফেলবেন। এতে হুমকিতে পড়তে পারত ইউরোপের নিরাপত্তা। তবে আপাতত এসব আশঙ্কার কালো মেঘ ইউরোপের আকাশ থেকে কেটে গেছে। কোনো চুক্তি কিংবা সমঝোতা ছাড়াই শেষ হয়েছে ট্রাম্প-পুতিনের আলাস্কা বৈঠক। শনিবার এক প্রতিবেদনে এসব তথ্য জানিয়েছে নিউইয়র্ক টাইমস।
