Female participation in the workforce is significant in the RMG sector, representing more than 60% of the total. However, proportion of women employed in the mid-level and upper level management in the sector remains low. The issue of gender equality and women’s empowerment is increasingly becoming essential in this female-dominated workforce of the RMG sector. Issues such as skills development, career prospects of female workers, maternity leave and benefits, day care centers, anti-harassment policies are examples of some of the area of paramount importance for women’s empowerment in the sector.
