Legendary Visual Storyteller Raghu Rai Passes Away.

ভারতের 'ফাদার অফ ফটোগ্রাফি' রঘু রাই , ভারতের আলোকচিত্রের ইতিহাসে একটি নাম নয়, বরং একটি প্রতিষ্ঠান।

গত পাঁচ দশক ধরে তিনি তাঁর লেন্সের মাধ্যমে ভারতের জটিলতা, সৌন্দর্য এবং মানবিকতাকে বিশ্বের দরবারে তুলে ধরেছেন।

ফটোগ্রাফিতে রঘু রাই-এর অসামান্য অবদানসমূহ

১. ভোপাল গ্যাস ট্র্যাজেডি (১৯৮৪)

রঘু রাই-এর ক্যারিয়ারের সবচেয়ে শক্তিশালী এবং হৃদয়বিদারক কাজ হলো ভোপাল গ্যাস দুর্ঘটনার ছবিগুলো। তাঁর তোলা 'অজানা শিশুর সমাধি' (The Unknown Child) ছবিটি সারা বিশ্বের বিবেককে নাড়িয়ে দিয়েছিল। এই একটি ছবির মাধ্যমে তিনি শিল্প বিপর্যয়ের ভয়াবহতা সারা বিশ্বের কাছে তুলে ধরেন।

২. মাদার তেরেসা এবং রঘু রাই

মাদার তেরেসার জীবনের ওপর রঘু রাই-এর কাজ অনন্য। তিনি দীর্ঘ সময় ধরে মাদার তেরেসার সান্নিধ্যে ছিলেন এবং তাঁর সেবামূলক কাজের অমূল্য সব মুহূর্ত ফ্রেমবন্দি করেছেন। মাদারের ওপর তাঁর প্রকাশিত বইগুলো এখনও আলোকচিত্রের পাঠ্যপুস্তক হিসেবে গণ্য হয়।

৩. ম্যাগনাম ফটোজ-এ ভারত

১৯৭৭ সালে কিংবদন্তি আলোকচিত্রী অঁরি কার্তিয়ে-ব্রেসোঁ স্বয়ং রঘু রাই-কে বিশ্বখ্যাত 'ম্যাগনাম ফটোজ' (Magnum Photos)-এ যোগ দেওয়ার জন্য মনোনীত করেন। এটি ছিল কোনো ভারতীয় আলোকচিত্রীর জন্য এক বিশাল সম্মান।

৪. রাজনৈতিক ও সাংস্কৃতিক দলিল

ইন্দিরা গান্ধী থেকে শুরু করে সত্যজিৎ রায় কিংবা পণ্ডিত রবিশঙ্কর—ভারতের ইতিহাসের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ব্যক্তিদের এমন সব মুহূর্ত তিনি ফ্রেমবন্দি করেছেন যা এখন ইতিহাসের অমূল্য দলিল। তাঁর ছবিতে মানুষের চেহারার চেয়ে বেশি ফুটে ওঠে তাদের আত্মা।

৫. বাংলাদেশের মহান মুক্তিযুদ্ধের দলিল

বাংলাদেশের মহান মুক্তিযুদ্ধের বিদেশি আলোকচিত্রীদের মধ্যে রঘু রাই ছিলেন প্রথম সারির। ভারতের দ্য স্টেটসম্যান পত্রিকার প্রধান আলোকচিত্র সাংবাদিক হিসেবে তিনি মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সময় ভারতের আশ্রয়শিবির ঘুরে ঘুরে উদ্বাস্তু বাংলাদেশিদের অবর্ণনীয় কষ্টের জীবনযাত্রা তুলে ধরেন তাঁর ক্যামেরায়।

পাশাপাশি রঘু রাই জীবনের ঝুঁকি নিয়ে মুক্তিযুদ্ধকালে বাংলাদেশে প্রবেশ করে মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের প্রত্যক্ষ যুদ্ধের দৃশ্য, চূড়ান্ত বিজয়ের পর বিজয়ী মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের দেশে ফেরা ও পাকিস্তানি বাহিনীর আত্মসমর্পণের দৃশ্য তাঁর ক্যামেরায় ধারণ করেছিলেন।

রঘু রাইয়ের তোলা ছবিগুলো একদিকে যেমন বাংলাদেশের মুক্তিযুদ্ধের ইতিহাসের এক অমূল্য দলিল হয়ে আছে, তেমনি সেগুলো ব্যক্তিগতভাবে তাঁকেও আলোকচিত্রী হিসেবে আন্তর্জাতিক খ্যাতি এনে দিয়েছে।
