Another day, another surprise visitor!

TezJet McDonnell Douglas MD-83 spotted at DAC yesterday. Delivered on 21 Dec 1999, this was the very last Mad Dog to roll off the production line — a true piece of aviation history. Making quite a scene in Dhaka, it arrived carrying the FC Muras United football team from Kyrgyzstan.

Sad day for Dhaka. PSBD prays for the departed souls.

It’s always a standout sight to see a sleek-looking 757 in DAC.

The airline operates two dedicated cargo routes to DAC from CAN and CTU, operated by its Boeing 757 freighters. Notably, the CTU–DAC service is the first direct postal air corridor between Southwest China and South Asia.
These routes strengthen supply chains for cross-border e-commerce and manufacturing enterprises, significantly enhancing logistics efficiency under China’s Belt and Road initiative.

Lion Air Group A339 stopped by Dhaka earlier today, operating a Hajj return flight.

This flight was part of a unique arrangement where طيران ناس , one of the three airlines designated to transport Hajj pilgrims from Dhaka, has partnered with the Lion Air Group to operate these services on its behalf. In 2025, Lion Air has been tasked with operating Hajj flights from 23 international embarkation points across Asia, Africa, and neighboring regions.

Backed by a fleet of seven Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft, operations are scheduled between April 28 and July 10, 2025, aiming to transport 136,529 Hajj pilgrims from 13 countries through 23 airports under the flynas banner.

Sad news coming out of India today.

An Air India Boeing 787-8 (Flight AI 171) crashed into a residential area in Ahmedabad shortly after takeoff, resulting in an unspecified number of fatalities. This marks the first fatal accident involving a Boeing 787 since its introduction in 2011.

The aircraft, carrying 242 people—including 169 Indian and 53 British nationals—was en route to London Gatwick. Shortly after departing from Runway 23 at 1:39 p.m. local time, the pilots issued a mayday call, but communication was lost soon after. Surveillance data shows the plane barely gained altitude before descending rapidly and crashing, with the landing gear still down and flaps retracted.

Footage and data indicate the aircraft failed to achieve a positive rate of climb and crashed within seconds of takeoff. Smoke was seen rising from the Meghaninagar neighborhood, and the aircraft’s tail was visible among the wreckage.

The aircraft (VT-ANB), delivered in 2014, had flown earlier that day from Delhi to Ahmedabad. It was part of Air India’s fleet of 34 Boeing 787s. Boeing is assisting with the investigation and has expressed its condolences. This is Air India's first fatal crash since 1985.
Team prays for all those who met their demise in this unfortunate accident. May they rest in eternal peace.

The taxiing Biman T7, Aakash Pradeep.

Recently, Biman Bangladesh Airlines revised its flight schedules to Toronto, London, and Rome for the period from May 9 to 31, 2025, due to rerouting around Pakistani airspace.
Departures from Dhaka will take off 40-45 minutes earlier, while return flights will operate as usual.

Once a familiar sight in Bangladesh, now slowly fading — much like the Regent’s 737 fading away in the background.

Novoair’s VQ936 on May 1 marked their final flight, as operations have been temporarily suspended. The skies feel emptier, and though their return remains uncertain, we hope to see them come back stronger soon.
