গণতান্ত্রিক বাংলাদেশের ইতিহাসে তাঁর নাম সর্বদা প্রথমেই থাকবে।

মিথ্যা অভিযোগে তাঁকে জেলে রাখা হয়েছিল, যা তাঁকে রাজনীতি ও স্বাভাবিক জীবন থেকে বিচ্ছিন্ন করেছিল।

তিনি সেই নেতা, যিনি একবার বলেছিলেন, ‘বাংলাদেশ ছাড়া আমার আর কোনো ঠিকানা নেই।’
