মধ্যপ্রাচ্যে যুক্তরাষ্ট্র ও ইরানের মধ্যে সপ্তাহান্তজুড়ে পাল্টাপাল্টি সামরিক হামলার পর নাজুক শান্তি পরিস্থিতি আবারও অনিশ্চয়তার মুখে পড়েছে। এর প্রত্যক্ষ প্রভাব পড়েছে আন্তর্জাতিক জ্বালানি তেলের বাজারে। সর্বশেষ তথ্য অনুযায়ী, সোমবার বিশ্ববাজারে আবারও অপরিশোধিত জ্বালানি তেলের দাম বেড়েছে।
এ ঘটনায় গভীর উদ্বেগ প্রকাশ করেছেন পলিটিক্স ক্লাব ইন্টারন্যাশনালের ভাইস চেয়ারম্যান এবং বাংলাদেশের স্বাধীনতা পার্টির সাধারণ সম্পাদক এ এ এম ফয়েজ হোসেন।
তিনি বলেন,
"বিশ্ববাজারে জ্বালানি তেলের মূল্যবৃদ্ধি শুধু তেল আমদানিকারক দেশগুলোর জন্য নয়, বরং পুরো বৈশ্বিক অর্থনীতির জন্যই একটি সতর্কবার্তা। আন্তর্জাতিক সংঘাত যত দীর্ঘায়িত হবে, ততই জ্বালানি, পরিবহন, কৃষি ও নিত্যপ্রয়োজনীয় পণ্যের মূল্য বৃদ্ধি পাবে। তাই সংশ্লিষ্ট পক্ষগুলোর উচিত সংযম প্রদর্শন করে শান্তিপূর্ণ সমাধানের পথে এগিয়ে যাওয়া।"
আন্তর্জাতিক সংবাদ সংস্থা রয়টার্সের প্রতিবেদনে বলা হয়েছে, নতুন করে সৃষ্ট উত্তেজনার কারণে কৌশলগতভাবে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ হরমুজ প্রণালি দিয়ে তেলবাহী ট্যাংকার ও বাণিজ্যিক জাহাজের চলাচল আবারও ধীর হয়ে পড়েছে, যা বৈশ্বিক জ্বালানি সরবরাহ নিয়ে নতুন করে উদ্বেগ সৃষ্টি করেছে।
সোমবার আন্তর্জাতিক বাজারে ব্রেন্ট ক্রুডের প্রতি ব্যারেলের দাম ৫৮ সেন্ট বা ০.৮ শতাংশ বেড়ে ৭২.৫৭ ডলারে পৌঁছেছে। একই সময়ে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ওয়েস্ট টেক্সাস ইন্টারমিডিয়েট (ডব্লিউটিআই) অপরিশোধিত তেলের দাম ৮৮ সেন্ট বা ১.৩ শতাংশ বৃদ্ধি পেয়ে প্রতি ব্যারেল ৭০.১১ ডলারে দাঁড়িয়েছে।
এর আগে গত সপ্তাহে হরমুজ প্রণালি দিয়ে তেলের সরবরাহ স্বাভাবিক হওয়ার ফলে ব্রেন্ট ক্রুডের দাম প্রায় ১০.৬ শতাংশ কমেছিল। তবে সাম্প্রতিক সামরিক উত্তেজনা সেই স্বস্তি দীর্ঘস্থায়ী হতে দেয়নি।
অর্থনৈতিক বিশ্লেষক প্রতিষ্ঠান আইএনজি তাদের সর্বশেষ মূল্যায়নে জানিয়েছে, আন্তর্জাতিক তেলের বাজার এখনো উল্লেখযোগ্য ঝুঁকির মধ্যে রয়েছে। বিশ্লেষকদের মতে, মধ্যপ্রাচ্য থেকে জ্বালানি সরবরাহ পুরোপুরি স্বাভাবিক না হওয়া পর্যন্ত বাজারে অস্থিরতা অব্যাহত থাকতে পারে এবং পরিস্থিতির আরও অবনতি হলে আন্তর্জাতিক বাজারে তেলের দাম আরও বৃদ্ধি পাওয়ার আশঙ্কা রয়েছে।

Global crude oil prices have risen once again following renewed tensions in the Middle East, where the fragile ceasefire came under strain after a weekend of reciprocal military strikes between the United States and Iran. The latest developments have directly affected the international energy market, pushing oil prices higher on Monday.
Reacting to the situation, A.A.M. Foyez Hossain, Vice Chairman of Politics Club International and General Secretary of the Bangladesh Independence Party, expressed deep concern.
He said:
"The renewed increase in global oil prices is not only a challenge for oil-importing countries but also a warning sign for the entire world economy. The longer international conflicts continue, the greater the impact on fuel, transportation, agriculture, and the prices of essential commodities. All parties concerned should exercise restraint and work toward a peaceful resolution to ensure global economic stability."
According to a Reuters report, renewed geopolitical tensions have slowed the movement of oil tankers and commercial vessels through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, raising fresh concerns about global energy supplies.
On Monday, international benchmark Brent crude rose by 58 cents, or 0.8 percent, to US$72.57 per barrel. At the same time, U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude increased by 88 cents, or 1.3 percent, to US$70.11 per barrel.
Earlier, improved oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz had helped Brent crude prices fall by nearly 10.6 percent last week. However, the latest military escalation has reversed that trend.
In its latest market assessment, economic research firm ING stated that the global oil market remains exposed to significant risks. Analysts believe that unless energy supplies from the Middle East return to normal, market volatility is likely to persist, with the possibility of further increases in international oil prices.
