In a rapidly growing city like Dhaka, waste management is a major challenge. A significant portion of recyclable waste—especially plastic and paper—is not properly sorted, reducing recycling efficiency and increasing environmental impact.

In this capstone project, we present a Vision-Based Smart Waste Bin that uses computer vision and machine learning to automatically classify and segregate waste into two categories: plastic and paper.

Key Features:
Real-time waste classification using a camera
Embedded system for edge processing
User-friendly, contactless operation

Computer Vision & Machine Learning
Embedded Systems (e.g., Raspberry Pi / Microcontroller)

Impact:
This system helps reduce waste contamination, improve recycling efficiency, and contribute to a cleaner, smarter urban environment.

Developed as a capstone project by East West University students, aiming to create practical, scalable solutions to real-world problems.
