ZANALA Bangladesh managed the National Conference of Counter Trafficking Committees 2026 for Winrock International’s Ashshash project. The conference focused on strengthening Bangladesh’s local counter-trafficking mechanisms and addressing the evolving challenges of human trafficking and migrant smuggling.
Organized by Ashshash with support from the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh, the gathering brought together senior government officials, local government representatives, development partners, NGOs, civil society, trafficking survivors, and local communities.
A major outcome was the call to institutionalise Counter Trafficking Committees (CTCs) at the district, upazila, and union levels, with dedicated budget allocations and stronger coordination. Participants also emphasised making the committees fully functional to strengthen awareness, case identification, survivor protection, and coordinated action against trafficking.
