যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের সঙ্গে বাংলাদেশের বাণিজ্য ঘাটতি কমছে। "কৃষিপণ্য ও জ্বালানি আমদানি বাড়িয়ে এই ঘাটতি আরও কমানো হবে। বর্তমানে আন্তর্জাতিক বাজারদরের চেয়ে যুক্তরাষ্ট্র থেকে কমদামে এসব পণ্য আমদানি করছে বাংলাদেশ। চীন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের কৃষি পণ্যের ওপর বাড়তি শুল্ক আরোপ করায় বাংলাদেশ এ সুবিধা পাচ্ছে"- বলেও উল্লেখ করেন শেখ বশিরউদ্দীন।
