As a local SEO expert, I frequently search targeted keywords and analyze competitors. Recently, I searched for “immigration lawyer in Clermont” and “immigration lawyer near me.”

Within seconds, Google showed me a list of businesses on Google Maps.
I didn’t visit websites first. I simply chose one of the businesses that looked trustworthy.
Why?

Because their Google Business Profile had:
✔ Clear business information
✔ Good reviews
✔ Recent photos and updates
✔ A complete service description
Most customers behave the same way.

But here’s the problem I see with many local businesses:
They either don’t claim their Google Business Profile or they create one and never optimize it properly.

Missing categories, outdated information, no reviews, and no updates. All of these reduce your visibility in Google Maps.

That means when potential customers search for your service, they end up calling your competitors instead.

Google Business Profile is not just a listing anymore.

It’s one of the most important local SEO assets a business can have.
