Why Isn't Your YouTube Video Ranking? A Real Case Study
A client's channel had solid content, but views just weren't coming in. Here's exactly what the audit uncovered:
Problem 1: Getting Impressions, Not Clicks β
Analytics showed high impressions but a very low CTR. That means the thumbnail/title isn't convincing people to click. Without a clear face, bold text (3-5 words max), and strong contrast, people scroll right past.
Problem 2: Viewers Leave in the First 10 Seconds
The retention graph showed a big drop in the first 30 seconds. A long intro kills retention β the hook needs to come right at the start.
Problem 3: Right Keyword, Wrong Intent
The title had the keyword, but the video didn't actually answer what viewers were searching for. So they clicked, left fast, and YouTube read that as "low satisfaction" β which pushes rankings down, no matter how good your SEO looks on paper.
Bottom line: Most of the time, a video isn't ranking because the content is bad β it's a gap between thumbnail, retention, and intent.
Which of these three do you think is hurting your last video the most? Let me know in the comments
