Voor wie letters niet zomaar letters zijn.

Ben je grafisch vormgever, ontwerper, redacteur, uitgever of gewoon iemand die warm wordt van boeken, typografie, lettervormen en goed doordacht ontwerp?
Dan is de Open Dag van het Plantin Instituut voor
Typografie er eentje om te ontdekken.

Het Plantin Instituut is dé plek voor hoogwaardige opleidingen in typografie, boekontwerp en type design.
Denk: micro- en macrotypografie, boekgeschiedenis, web design, type design en alles daartussen, met lessen op posthogeschoolniveau, gegeven door mensen die het vak écht kennen.

Tijdens de Open Dag krijg je een inkijk in het lesaanbod, kan je de sfeer opsnuiven in het leslokaal of gewoon online meevolgen via livestream.

Ideaal voor grafici en creatives die hun blik willen aanscherpen, zich in hun vak willen verdiepen of gewoon zin hebben om nog eens helemaal met hun neus in de boeken (en letters) te duiken.

The past week, Us by Night was back in town, after a break of 5 years. The festival is quite focussed on the digital creative field, so we’re happy that we’ve always been able to add an analog touch to this playground. Since the very beginning of the festival, we have deployed printing presses, and with each edition they grew bigger and bigger. To make up for those missing years, we believed it was time to bring in the big guns. A heavy 1.3 ton Heidelberg Windmill.

Visitors could make a composition with the modular printing blocks, and a small series was printed on the press. They could take some with them, and the rest was put on display.

We printed red on Thursday, blue on Friday and pink on Saturday.
If you came by our small printshop every day, you could build a beautiful composition, with the three colours in mind, and using overlays. If you only discovered us on Friday or Saturday, you could make a design, and still print it as an extra layer on top of the spare prints of the previous days.

More than 1500 different prints were made, with most of the final results being a collaboration between 2 or 3 different visitors.

The paper Keaykolour Snow White 450g was kindly provided by Antalis.

Ondertussen ben ik al meer dan een half jaar officieel nauw aan het samenwerken met zwartopwit.be, dus ANTWERP. POWERED BY CREATIVES. kwam eens poolshoogte nemen.

Grafisch vormgever Stoffel Van den Bergh kocht ooit een kastje vol houten letters en een kleine handpers uit liefde voor typografie en ambacht.
