Last week I inspire me with the pride colors. i made small rainbow blocks (for your fridge). and this morning I felt “let’s just share the love by rolling cards over the press in a little workshop”
I’m pride and proud to live in brussels and i’m waiting to see all the colorfull people in our streets 🌈!

I gave a workshop in
“from calligraphy to typography”
after a sprint through the history about the origin of our letter image, they were able to build their own new letters starting from the calligraphic letters.
we analyzed lettergroups, and each built out 1 letter and made modules that cauld be used to create other letters. on the and, a collaboration between al the new letters was made, and the full alphabet was created !

last week I had fun by making this poster. we’re planning 04+05 April a weekend where calligraphy, writing, typography and bookbinden come together. the spots are limited and we are very much looking forward to seeing the history of this book printing with a fresh and contemporary look. all info on my website.
ps… for those who followed already bookbinding nr1 (2 and 3) do you already know there is a new technique “nid d’beille” you can follow next monday!

zalig brussel : ik vond dit rekje vrijdag op straat “a donner” het leek me wat groot maar ik nam het toch mee. toen ik mijn tafel weer moest herschikken voor de nieuwe productie, en de stapeltjes verlegde naar een andere tafel, viel mijn oog op’t rekje: wat als ik er een “work in progress-molen” van maak: elk vakje heeft zijn idee voorzien van een schetsje: ik draai aan de molen en kan zo makkelijk zien welke stappen ik kan bundelen met elkaar! zalig! ik heb mijn werktafel 100% vrij om de covers voor te bereiden en de schetsjes bevatten alle info om achteraf vlot de unieke en kleinschalige producties te archiveren en te labelen op de verpakking!

een deel van de workshops zit in een nieuw jasje !
met nog steeds als doel de “geschiedenis van de (boek)drukkunst vanonder het stof te halen — toegankelijk, gegeven door mensen die dagelijks in het vak staan én in dé Brusselse talenmix (FR/NL/EN).

🪶 kalligrafie 〰 terug naar pen en inkt (iets wat we door smartphones wat verleerd zijn) en stap voor stap het Karolingische handschrift ontdekken.
📇 typografie / postc.art 〰 na een introductie in verschillende druktechnieken krijgen jullie volledige vrijheid. ik begeleid en experimenteer mee om jullie postc.arts te realiseren. nadien kan je ook terugkomen om eigen projecten verder uit te werken.
📚 boekbinden 〰 in de inleidende ‘gevarieerde simpele binding’ is er aandacht voor theorie en techniek. daarna volgt de Nid d’abeille: een notebook met karakter en eindeloze variaties — perfect als cadeautje (voor jezelf).
📜 notebook / paperleft(l)overs 〰 we laten de regels los en focussen op recuperatie, papierplezier en het maken van een cover. gelijmde boeken hebben véél te bieden: combineer vrij verschillende papieren voor je eigen boekproject of geef de papierbak een nieuwe betekenis.

en? … kriebelt het? op 04 + 05/04 organiseren we een weekend waarin alle workshops aan elkaar gekoppeld worden. je gaat naar huis met een unieke “livre d’artist” én een pak kennis (max. 6 personen).
belangrijk: alle workshops zijn thuis toepasbaar zonder bijzondere materialen (behalve typografie).
we hanteren één vaste prijs, berekend op tijd en materiaalkost, zodat elke lesgever gelijkwaardig wordt betaald. 🤍

i have some free sports for the “paperrestnotebook” 02/01 : 18-21h : 49€
because i have to much nice paperleftovers that i will share wocht you this workshop is born. I show you how to cut a block of paper and glue them togheter. no specific tools are needed: the idea is realy you can practice at home and glue afterwards your own notebooks with paper(left•l•overs)

ps in some weeks i will come with a new and fresh workshop calendar :)
