💧 Droptimize: making rainwater management smarter

In Flanders, over a million rainwater tanks often go unused during the moments they’re needed most. Droptimize, a new pilot project in Vlaams-Brabant, is changing that. With a simple sensor, weather forecasts and a clear app, residents receive practical advice on when to empty or refill their tank. The goal: fewer floods and better resilience during dry spells.

The pilot project runs in selected neighbourhoods in Vlaams Brabant. It’s an innovative, accessible and scalable model for smart rainwater management built on collaboration between , , , .research, , , Sumaqua, Regionaal Landschap Dijleland and Regionaal Landschap Brabantse Kouters. The project is financially supported by the Province of Vlaams-Brabant.
