Ondernemers zeggen dat woorden ertoe doen. Maar ze vullen hun websites, e-mails en brochures met holle beloftes, containerbegrippen en afkortingen.

Ik schrijf voor merken die dat beu zijn.

1 september. Geen betere dag voor een frisse start. En dat geldt ook voor deze account.

Het is bijna een jaar geleden dat ik laatst op social media postte. En daar had ik een goede reden voor.

Eerder dit jaar kreeg ik een nieuwe titel. Naast de vertrouwde van “copywriter”, “SEO” of “ondernemer” werd ik voor het eerst mama.

Een torenhoog cliché maar het is echt wel de schoonste titel ter wereld.

Ik genoot eerst maandenlang van dat groeiende leven in mijn buik. In mijn cocon verlangend naar dat kleine bubbeltje.

Ondertussen is hij al 3 maand bij ons. Ons zoontje en grootste liefde, Wout.

12 weken lang bestond er niks anders dan dichtbij elkaar zijn, elkaar leren kennen en dagelijkse verwondering.

Vanaf volgende week draag ik opnieuw verschillende hoedjes. Jolien, de ondernemer, copywriter en SEO, treedt opnieuw op de voorgrond.

Een stukje van mij staat te springen om er opnieuw in te vliegen. Een ander deeltje zal met een bang hart aan de nieuwe mijlpaal beginnen.

Alleszins ben ik heel erg dankbaar en enorm enorm enorm gelukkig.

Trend alert 🚨 What gets measured gets improved!

A few weeks ago Google Analytics 4 was launched. A completely renewed version of Google Analytics as we know it now.

Google Analytics is a great tool to measure the performance of your website. So you get to know what works and what doesn't.

Google Analytics 4 is mainly based on events. Today, GA still relies mainly on user and session data.

What are the advantages of the new Analytics?

🤖 predictive statistics that automatically bring you trends and insights thanks to machine learning

🤖 customer reports where you can see how users interact with your business

🤖 better integration with Google Ads so you can manage your campaigns more efficiently

So the focus is shifting more and more from sessions and users to the actual behavior of visitors. Third-party cookies and blocking those has a lot to do with this trend to behavior stats.

The data generated by Google Analytics 4 will help you analyze and predict your customer's behavior.

Do you need to start using GA4 right now?

I would say no. Just wait until the biggest issues with the new system are eliminated.

What did you like to do as a child?

My mom kept everything in a pink notebook from "Kind & Gezin", the preventive family support agency in Belgium. And when I say she noted everything down in that notebook, I really mean EVERYTHING. Down to the last detail. On what day I had a fever, when I took my first steps, when I babbled my first words...

What I am most thankful for is that she always wrote down how I spent my time, how I played and how I kept myself busy for hours.

Reading and browsing through books and magazines comes back a lot in that pink notebook. Writing as well. Painting and coloring too. Some lego and cars. Playing outside when it rains...

It strikes me that alone time was important to me even then. As a child I looked for peace and quiet and found it in writing, reading and playing on my own.

Looking back at myself as a child, I learn a lot about my business and being an entrepreneur. When my adult head is about to explode and the balance is lost, I like to go back to what made my little child heart beat faster.
