Ready to unlock your store's potential? Knowing your e-commerce metrics is the first step. Let’s dive into the five key numbers every Shopify owner should keep an eye on:

Conversion Rate: 1-3%
For most e-commerce sites, a conversion rate between 1% and 3% is considered healthy. If yours is under 1%, it might be time for a closer look—is your site resonating with your target audience? Or perhaps there’s a technical hitch somewhere. And if you’re hitting above 3%—brilliant! Now’s the moment to focus on boosting your traffic to keep those conversions rolling in.

Cart Abandonment: 70%
Around 70% of online shoppers leave items in their carts. To reel them back in, set up email or SMS reminders that nudge them towards completing their purchase. If your abandonment rate is much higher, it’s worth giving your checkout process a once-over—make sure it’s as smooth and friendly as possible.

Add to Cart Rate: 6.3%
The global average add-to-cart rate sits at 6.3%. If yours is lagging, consider enhancing your product pages. High-quality images, detailed descriptions, and customer reviews can make a real difference, building trust and encouraging those clicks on “Add to Cart.”

Bounce Rate: 34%
A bounce rate of 34% means about a third of your visitors leave after viewing just one page. Check your analytics to spot which pages have high bounce rates, then work on making those areas more engaging. Related product recommendations, clear calls to action, or smoother navigation can keep visitors around longer. (Lower bounce rates generally mean visitors are more engaged and enjoying their experience on your site.)

Customer Return Rate: 25-30%
For most e-commerce sites, a return rate of 25-30% is a sign of strong customer loyalty. If it’s a bit too high, though, it could mean it’s time to bring in fresh faces. A lower return rate? Focus on re-engagement through follow-up emails, rewards, or exclusive offers to keep your brand top of mind.
